  • Torri Edwards Can she regain form of the past

    Hi all

I see she's only entered in the 100 @ USATF usually she's in both sprints.
Anyone think she can regain her past form in Eugene
She's ran well on that track in the past
Being a fan of hers I think we will see 1 Jeter 2 Lee 3 Edwards 4 Williams

    Cheers

Well it remains to be seen as to what type of shape she is in, but if she is in great health then she poses a threat to make the team outright.

So you don't think age would weigh in as a factor (considering Torri is over 30).

To me the question isn't can Torri regain, because can speaks to her capabilities, she's capable. I would ask will she, that remains to be seen.

Gail Devers was very competitive post 30

Isn't Paris '03 the only time she performed well in a championship? I think you are better off not having her in the US team, frankly.

Obvioulsy it won't come down to deciding if Torri is on the team, she will have to earn that based on her performance. If she performs well enough to have made the team, you can't deny her.

                Pretty much!

she has to use her lane to get to the finish line 1st just like everyone else.

Whether anyone likes it really has no affect on that outcome. This is not a slighjt at anyone, just an honest realization that its up to the athlete to perform when that gun goes off.

If I had to pick a team, she wouldn't be on it as it stands right now, and we won't even speak about her being on a relay.....LOL (Though she may lead off the relay if her health is good/but not any other leg would be open to her).

However, should she perform well, she will undoubtedly have earned her spot.

Torri is more than capable of coming through at trials.

I think it will be tough this year though because she's had a tought season timewise.

She ran 11.2 @ NYC off a so-so start a poor drive and just ok finish with good or very good arm action. She mentioned an ankle concern to Larry Rawson but I did not catch the specifics.

Gail was a few months short of 38 when she made the 100 and 100H team for Athens. If she didn't come up injured before the Olympics, who knows what she might have done.

[Oh, and I forgot; Ottey has a bronze at age 40 from Sydney in the 100 (after Marion's DQ), and could be upgraded to silver depending on what they do about Thanou.]

Does she in fact have the bronze? I know that the USOC asked Marion to give back her medals, and the IOC has formally stripped her of them but have they been awarded to other athletes? Have the placings been adjusted in the official results? The IOC and IAAF web sites have the results in the original order still, with the IAAF site having a note that there is a pending decision to be made by the IOC.

There is no doubt in my mind that Torrie was a juicer and the only way she can "regain form" is if she is back on the stuff.

I think that you had better read the forum guidelines immediately (and edit your post accordingly, this is not LetsRun). The only thing that Torri ever tested positive for is something that is no longer much of a no-no and the board ruled that it was not intentional and would not particularly of assisted her, so no real PED in her case (marijuana is a non-PED that also merits a small ban).

Removed TS from it inappropriate categorization with LR.

Edit? So I'm not allowed to state an opinion directly related to the topic? I love the "hasn't publicly tested positive" stuff as defense. I'm a huge track and field fan and unfortunately performance enhancers have been and continue to be a big part if the sport. You can't fix something by ignoring it........
