  • Track & field

It has just been brought to my attention that SMU will announce within the next few days (or, perhaps, hours) the deletion of the men's T&F program, retaining the women's side. The men will take up equestrian sports, the favorite of the Higland Park section of Dallas. This is worse than Bowling Green and throws a blanket over a lot of recent advances.

    Re: Track & field

Oops, sorry,I failed to read the entire list before jumping in. This upset me a bit -- SMU has been a great leader in men's T&F down this way for some time-- of course, equestrian is strong in the Highland Park area of Dallas. Sieg and others are right that the track program has done little for SMU. The track facility is poor as a facility for competition, and too many of the stars of recent years were from nowhere this side of the Atlantic Ocean.
