    My pick:

    Hardee
    Arnold
    Eaton

Note: Usually US champs have at least one big upset, my pick is Clay on decathlon.

Not saying this is reasonable but my interest in this would be dramatically spiked if Curtis Beach were somehow involved. I love watching potential, especially in the multis..I suspect many people are watching with baited breath to see whether he is a Kilmartin or Hardee.

        Still very interesting though

I would love to see Rickey Moody break into the top 10

I'm sure Moody will be in top 10 (5,3?) at end of first day.

Maybe he didn't get ranked because he hasn't done a full dec yet this year. Here is what he has done: http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/A ... AID=812497

I think he had a minor injury earlier in the year, and he's been pretty busy coaching at WSU, but he should be good to go now.

He posted on his Twitter account the other day saying he injured his hamstring in practice.

Wow, I can't imagine Clay not being in Berlin...

I wonder if there is any chance he will just try and compete, but not all out and hope for the possibility of somehow getting in the top 3, while still not seriously injuring himself. I of course have absolutely no idea if that is even remotely feasible. Only thinking from the angle that 8000 (versus 8800 he has scored) could quite possibly be in the top 3.

Outside of Clay, I don't see too many between 8300-8500. Hardee is surely the onlyone I'd gaurantee of doing such, with a possibility of Eaton getting in there, but we shall see after his NCAA effort 2 weeks ago. So I can see is Clay is around 70-80% healthy, that he still has a chance to contend.

Unfortunately, it is hard to be 70-80% healthy in the Deca because even if you start at that level, you regress to 50-60, then 40-50, ... and the hamstring is not usually something that gets better as the competition goes on (it just is ok or not, although it can start ok and then go south).
