I guess that's DLV junioren gala. Another german impressed there too, 19 year old Robert Hering ran 10,34. Coming from a 60m pb of 6,79 and a 100m pb of 10,49 it's damn impressive!

      And here, in English :-)

Mannheim, Germany, June 13—JrSP: 1. Storl (Ger) 73-3½ (22.34) WJR (old WJR 72-9¼/22.18 Storl in series)
      (70-10½ PR [3, 3 WJ], 72-9¼ WJR [old WJR 72-¾/21.96 Elkasević [Cro] ’02], 73‑3½, 69-7, 71-6¾ [x, 4 WJ, 70-5¼)
      (21.60, 22.18, 22.34, 21.21, 21.81, 21.47).

This stuff was buried in a generic "2009 results" thread;allow me to suggest that things of this magnitude should get their own thread instead of being buried in a generic one that quickly becomes impossible to follow.

Anyone in the know care to comment on the comparison of this mark with that best-known of HS marks? (what difference between 6kg/13.2lb and 12 lb -- certainly not the 10% from the weight difference, probably more like equal to or less than half that?)

Storl also recently threw 20.16 with the senior shot. I think it's been a few years since a junior last threw as far as this.

It ain't no Carteresque 80 with a 12, but it's certainly better than what our HS phenoms are at. But it's also not what Terry Albritton did as a Jr.

I think it was Janus Robberts which was the latest junior to have a better mark (20.39 in 1998).

I have and old all-time list for juniors with seniors implement, not sure if I have missed some mark

So that's a European junior record with the 7.26k shot, and the longest put in the world by a junior in 30 years!

wow thats impressive.... European and World records in the shot put have been rather rare since the introduction of random/out of season testing!!!

What happened to Elkasevic by the way?? WJR at 6kg and threw some big marks as a young senior, according to IAAF site last seen throwing 17m in Tuscaloosa!

                    edited for spelling mistakes :-)

We reported Elkasevic with a bad pectoral tear early in '07, then said a few months later he was only able to throw the disc. Sounds like he never quite recovered.

Such a shame for Elkasevic. Effectively a career ending injury so young.
