Dexter Lee scratch? I notice he wasn't in any of the heats.

Well, if they showed all the races on TVJ, you might have an almsot empty stadium.

I think the subscribe option is for people not in Jamaica. The cost to subscribe montly cost more than to go to National Stadium to watch the meet live in the bleachers atleast.

When they the carrying Championships they should dedicate the time slot for the entire meet etc. It's irritating to be watching and then they stop before the meet is over etc. I won't pay a dime more that's for sure. Rather to read about results.

An absolutely pointless first round in the women's 400m - everyone (including someone who ran 65.23!) progressed to the next round!

In hindsight, yes, as it could have been an 8/8 semi-final. However, were each of the DNS made known before the meet, or did any occur as the meet was already underway?

Even if the DNSs were last-minute ones, couldn't they have made an on-the-spot decision to treat the three heats as three 'tri-finals' with a first two qual + two fastest losers format?

How is it pointless? There were 16 women competing and everyone have a right to compete no matter what their times are. Today will be semi-final and tomorrow is the final. Everyone had a shot no matter what their times are before the trials, and that is why national trials are there for, to give everyone a chance.

Going into a day thinking you running heats with the regular rules and then on that day...the race rules change can affect some people. The best way is to let them run the same way they would've. Some of those scratches might be last minute on the day of competition. They did the right thing and let them run the way they have it set up.

I don't think that they are allowed to change the qualifying rules in that manner.

Simon Magakwe is a great story. Looks like he is training in Kingston now.

I agree. Either they should scratch the whole first round and put everybody who showed up into the semi, or run the round as planned with those who showed up. It would be wrong to turn the first round itself into a semi. That would shock some of them who expected to run a comfortable first round that day to be suddenly told that they have to run hard because all but 8 will be eliminated.

I think that 65-second run may have been a calculated jog designed to save energy, upon knowing that she would qualify as long as she finished the race. The results show she had a seed time of 53-flat, and I know that she's done 56-something in high school a few years ago.

ooooo - I love the 51 second last laps in Jamaican distance races! For all those fans who say 'the time is irrelevant; it's all about the competition', this should be a GREAT race!
