The Superleague competition is about to start in Szczecin. The decathlon features Andrei Krauchanka, Aleksandr Pogorelov, Aleksey Drozdov, Romain Barras (all in their first decathlon of the year) and Oleksiy Kasyanov.
The heptathlon features a strong Ukrainian team with Hanna Melnychenko (6445 this year) and Lyudmila Yosypenko (6361), plus the Polish duo of Karolina Tymińska (coming back from an injury) and Kamila Chudzik. European Indoor medalist Antoinette Nana Djimou and Marina Goncharova (6319 last year) are other possible contenders.

Live results will be avaiable here

Kasyanov was the fastest by a long way at 100 meters with 10.63. The other favorites didn't do all too well - Krauchanka 11.18, Pogorelov 11.13, Drozdov 11.20, Barras 11.34.

Yosypenko was a no-show in the heptathlon. Phyllis Agbo started with a big PB of 13.49 to take the lead after 1 event. Melnychenko ran 13.51, Chudzik 13.62, Tymińska 14.02.

British gal, Lucy Boggis, is TV star "Tempest" from Gladiators. Hope she improves on her PB, although 1.66 HJ isn't going to help.

Melnychenko has a big lead after 2 events and is currently 17 points up on her PB. Kamila Chudzik is having a good competition too, and is currently just 1 point down on her PB, and in third place.

Krauchanka is not going well so far - 6th place after 3 events and 112 points down on his score from last year. Kasyanov is leading, but he is also well down on his best. At this point, it looks like Pogorelov, currently in 2nd place, is the strongest.

Re Yosypenko: she apparently did not have the right visa and was not allowed to enter Poland.

After day 1, Melnylchenko is leading with 3756 ahead of Kamila Chudzik 3706. Both could be on course for around 6400 if things go well on day 2. Tyminska is third with 3637 - still not fully fit after the injury, but a 6100+ score is still on the cards.

Oleksiy Kasyanov is the men's leader with 4360, over a 100 points ahead of Pogorelov and Krauchanka. The latter two seem to be the favorites, as Kasyanov doesn't have a great second day.

Hanna Melnychenko won marginally ahead of Kamila Chudzik after coming from behind in the 800, in which she needed to beat the Pole by 4 seconds.
Andrei Krauchanka was in a similar situation, but he needed to make up a full 20 seconds in the 1500 on Pogorelov - and he did, with a few seconds to spare.

Polish women and Russian men won the European Cup, both for the first time ever.

            Decathlon
            1 Andrei Krauchanka 8336
            2 Aleksandr Pogorelov 8313
            3 Oleksiy Kasyanov 8245
            4 Romain Barras 8209
5 Vasiliy Kharlamov 8113 (PB by nearly 400 points!)
            6 Aleksey Drozdov 8081
            Heptathlon
            1 Hanna Melnychenko 6380
            2 Kamila Chudzik 6378
            3 Karolina Tyminska 6191
            4 Marina Goncharova 6119

They gave up competing in the Euro Multis Cup a couple of years ago. All their best athletes normally compete in the Ratingen meet, which is at about the same time.
