It might not have been a WL, or if it was then it was a short-lived one, as Galkina ran 9:13.70 the same day in Moscow.

Worth noting all other distance events produced rather average results, indicating the conditions weren't very good for them (wind being the most obvious reason candidate)... Domínguez just seemed oblivious to them.

9:16.50 makes her the sixth fastest performer all time in the event:
http://www.iaaf.org/statistics/toplists ... etail.html
1. 8:58.81 Gulnara Galkina
2. 9:06.57 Yekaterina Volkova
3. 9:07.41 Eunice Jepkorir
4. 9:09.19 Tatyana Petrova
5. 9:15.04 Docus Inzikuru
6. 9:16.50 Marta Dominguez
7. 9:16.51 Alesia Turava
8. 9:16.85 Cristina Casandra
9. 9:17.15 Wioletta Frankiewicz
10. 9:17.35 Ruth Bisibori Nyangau
11. 9:17.85 Zemzem Ahmed
It's unfortunate she went down with 250m to go at Beijing - she was right in the thick of things for a medal and was on pace for a 9:09-9:12 mark.
