  • The "Rawson and Lewis-Johnson Are Morons" thread

    Somebody's gotta start it.

    During the steeple:

Lewis-Johnson:"He mimics the Kenyans by just going over the hurdles without stepping on them" (referring to the non-water jump barriers).

Rawson:"The last lap is the hardest in this race."

    F**king brilliant, man!!

And in the 1500, NO pertinent mention of Rowbury until the last 200. Just some average chick filling out the field, I guess. (And it sounded like LJ may have called her "Sharon"). What complete idiots.

I'm almost glad I have no cable at the moment. Although I probably would've put it on mute anyway.

Should I mention the women's 400H, where they were claiming that the woman in lane 4 was doing great when she was not even in the picture. Let's see, she's the one in the UCLA kit, so she should be easy to pick out. Right Ato?

Unfortunately, I think it's that prevailing attitude (which I've been known to go with) that has us stuck in mediocrity limbo.

They had about 5 different guys leading the steeple at one point....none of whom actually did so.

In the one lap events....in each of them they had the person on the outside in the lead as they went through the 2nd turn.....when it turns out that a person in the middle was either in the lead or the field was bunched....funny how that stagger thing works. Then in the one race in which somebody did have a fairly large margin....Merritt's race.....there was commentary that it was a tight race. I think they had Sanya's pinned down.

Yeah, seemed Sheena Tosta was invisible.
Same for Debbie Dunn and Jessica Beard

Yall bitch about Ato. Yall bitch about Carol. Yall bitch about Lewis-Johnson.

What would it take to make yall happy? NO, and I mean NO announcer/commentator is going to be perfect. I hate to tell yall this, but there is no such thing as a perfect commentator/announcer, be it track and field, basketball, football, baseball, etc.

In other words: lighten up!!

Saw ESPN coverage for first time this afternoon. Wow, loads of smoke and mirrors, but very little actual content and woeful commentary. Damn shame.

I've watched sports of all sorts on TV for 40 years, mate. Aside from Carol, I've never seen a pair make so many mistakes and say so many inept, stupid things as consistently as these two....and keep coming back at you. Yes, I've occasionally seen a bad one, but they don't get to keep their job! Get rid of them! Give us Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin.

Ive defended them in the past but they were really bad yesterday. I can't count the amount of times they said what a huge lead a runner had coming of the turn and there was no lead at all.

I want announcers who are as excited as i am, i.e. screaming superlatives during the competition.
                        phsstt!

I have no experience with the US commentators, but based on what I have seen
in Sweden and Germany, there are very valid reasons to complain. I am happy
with a decent commentator; the average commentator, however, is abysmal.

Yep. I got tired of all the filler and did something else. ESPN's coverage is awful. I'll always try to catch these on-line with Euro, African, South American heck even Canadian commentators before my countrymen. Ato is O.K., but he seems to have allowed himself to come down to his surroundings instead of trying to pick his associates up.
You there, on the motorbike! Sell me one of your melons!

Well, when it comes to announcers/commentators in track and field, I have come to the following conclusion:

                              It is what it is.
