  • What will Usain Bolt's 200m time be in Lausanne next week?

Usain Bolt says he's going to run all out in the 200m in Lausanne, and that he really wants to put himself to the test to gauge exactly where he's at so far in the season so he can adjust accordingly for Berlin.

So assuming he goes eyeballs to the wall like he says he's going to, what do you think he's going to run?

    Make your predictions!

    I'll go first. I predict a 19.40-basic

Remember that 'basic' for this locale also requires an altitude adjustment even if it does not officially have an 'A' attached in the lists.

I still think he goes sub 19.5-basic.

He ran a 20.03-basic jogging the last ONE HUNDRED METERS of his 200 this past sunday. Think about how seriously utterly disgusting that is.

20 flat basic jogging HALF of the race. Lol. 19.4-basic might even be too conservative. He's going to fly.

I suspect that he would like to go sub-19.58, and he seems likely to do so (note that I did not say that he would not go 19.40 basic but that doing so would take a little bit better mark than some might think. There have been a few notable times here (19.6) by athletes of (much) less note than Bolt, so it would not be a surprise to see him a quarter second faster than those marks.

I thin he will get the #3 mark, although a good wind, good start, and eyeballs-out running might even get him the #1 mark even if not the best real quality mark (he is not going to do a better basic than his 19.30!!).

At the moment, It looks like he is in 9.7+ shape for 100M. Given that he ran a few 400M early in the season and said he has been working on endurance, I predict that he will run 19.5+ to 19.6+. I don't think he wants to run in the 19.40s yet. If he runs 19.40+, then I think he will be in 19.2 shape by Beijing.

All this 'eye ball' running talk has me thinking: how would we know when tyson is running eyeballs out, given that even when he is sitting his eyeballs are out? He's got some bright eyes doesn't he? LOL  But I digress..

Bolt, ,judging from Manchester will be on the bubble of 19.58. Don't think he will be sub 19.5 nor will he as slow as 19.7 (Am I reading my stuff; callling 19.7s slow!!)

But the fact that Lasuanne is one Bolt's most favourite tracks is very important.

I've no idea but I think Paul Henry's right - as long as he runs faster than 19.58 then he'll be happy!

If he gets a tailwind, he might get pretty close to his world record.

                  Anyone have the wind forcasts?

The last time he ran there, he ran into a 1m/s headwind, and shut it down so hard before hitting the tape that he was seriously almost going backwards by the time he finished the race. And he still ran 19.63.

If he gets a tailwind this time, runs eyeballs out, and runs all the way to the tape, it's going to get pretty loud. Like CNN and MSNBC breaking news reports of shockwaves and windows breaking loud. Like not even CNN and MSNBC because you can't turn the tv on because your power is out because fireballs and pyroclastic flows are zooming all over the surface of the planet loud. Okay fine, maybe not that loud... but still... He's gonna pump that shit up. Be prepared.

Well, make no mistake, 19.30 was the race of his life ran at what was the form of his life at that point. Is he in better shape right now than at the start of 19.30 in Beijing? I strongly believe so!! So if he runs near 19.3, it certainly will be something. Just saying that I think his body fis ready or 19.3 again, but I just can't get in his head.

My thoughts exactly. Gay's time is definitely the target; anything less is unacceptable! How much faster? After watching his 150, and assuming he's trained well since then, I gotta guess something in the 19.4s!

He doesn't have to be in as good shape as he was in Beijing to break his world record.

His Beijing run was a 19.23-basic.

If he gets a 2m/s tailwind tomorrow, and runs a 19.29, his basic-time will actually only be a 19.45, which is more than two tenths of a second slower than his Beijing run, but he will still have broken his world record. Just something to keep in mind...

He won't break WR, and doubt much faster than 19.45. My guess he wants to get ahead of Gay prior to their meeting.
