  • Seats in Berlin Olympic Stadium

Does anyone know what type of seating there is in the letter sections on the backstretch? (We are in N3.)

Bench seating, no back? (With or without splinters >:-)
    Bench seating, with back?
Stadium chairs, i.e. w/backs and armrests?
Padded, bucket seats with drink holders >:-)?
    other?

    Thanks,
    Alan Shank

I did a bit of poking on the internet and couldn't find any definitive photos of the seats at the Olympic stadium. But, Germany did host the World Championship of football in 2006, and the Berlin stadium was the site of many matches, including the final. My guess is that the seating will be comprable to St Denis in 2003. I,e., seats with backs, hell, maybe cup holders. Gotta have a brewski at hand I will not be packing our folding seats.

herta berlin is the soccer team who plays there and the stadium had been upgraded recently...

i suspect you'll have very acceptable sized seats and room, as german efficiency is quite high...

I'm going to Berlin next month and have only been there once before, in 1985. I got out my slides from the trip and the seat that I was in had a back. I couldn't tell about the other seats.

Which seats do you think you would be better for this meet - before the starting line or beyond the finish line?
Either way they would be pretty far up............thanks!

Given the choice, I'd much rather sit high up beyond the finish line than before the start (assuming you're talking about the 100m start). That's not a stadium-specific preference, by the way.

The dog spot in any stadium is high, directly opposite the finish line. In the US, not being on the finish line side is pretty important, as people stand for the finishes of races. Down south in CA, for the spints, up yonder in Eugene, it's for distances. Bottom line, you can't see the finish unless you are tall. I'm not

If anyone in Europe stand up as a race finishes they get shouted at.

Usually by me, but an aquaintance of mine went mad at CP when someone did it over the weekend.

IIRC, in Munich everyone stood up during the races.
