First day mostly qualification rounds. Three finals - girls' SP and 3000m, boys' discus - and first half of boys' octathlon. Expected qualification highlights include Kirani James in m400m, Barbara Špiler in wHT, and (for US and Jamaican members here) the first two rounds of both 100m sprints. Incredibly, we Finns have an actual medal chance in girls' 100mH, so that's another event I'll be keeping an eye on...

Jodie Williams of GB to do the 100 n 200 double.
Thompson(GB) also to medal in at least one, probably both of them. Same events as Williams.
Can't believe GB have not sent a male 100m runner, bad times.
I think Wake(GB) in the 400 can run a PB and get a medal probably a bronze at best, looking at the American and the obvious gold winner thats got a 45.4 to his name.

Great start for the Nordic countries today.
Starting of with two heat wins in the 100mh. Your finnish girl in 13,63 and Norwegian Isabelle Pedersen with fantastic WYL 13.35 (already in the heats!) Her 84cm pb is 13,46 set at the b-race in Bislett earlier this season.
Biggest achivement from the swedish team this morning is without a doubt 16 year old Johan Rogestedt who won the his 800m heat with a PB 1,51,48. He beat two 1,48 guys in the race that only had 56,72 first lap, signaling more to come!
Martina Salander also won her heat in the100m with 12.03. (note. not a pb as stated it's two years old(!) with 11,91)
Other notable preformances so far was the two 62m throws in the DT qualification by Syrian Mansour and American Crouser.
Good run also by Purivs in the 100m with 11,57 (tough with strong tailwind compared to others...).
