  • Why is there no video of Michael Johnson's 19.66 ANYWHERE???

I just spent the past half hour or so trying every possible search term imaginable trying to find a video of Michael Johnson's 19.66 run, and I have not found a single vid of this race anywhere on youtube.

How is it possible for this race to not exist on video???

It was a world record for eff's sake!

It's probably copyrighted by the wonderful track&field Loving "NBC" Otherwise, until he dies it's sealed in their exclusive vault.

I hate to sound like a stick-in-the-mud, but if the people who own the footage don't want it shown (for whatever reason), it's their right, folks.

Well, we are all well aware of those arrogant ,money obsessed ,megalomaniac '' we own everything'' a*seholes that you are saddled with in the States.Yes, I am talking NBC.They certainly think they own the creeps of the IOC.

Having the legal right doesn't mean it's right. They shouldn't have that right in the first place; a national event like the Olympic Trials shouldn't be allowed to have its footage "owned" by any one entity.

I think i read that MJ went into that race to do a slowish first 100m so he could really blast the last 100m and done a 9.1 last 100m, maybe even slightly quicker.

A group of about, oh, let's say...one. In this case.

If NBC had it available for a fee, you would bitch about the fee.

Before everyone gathers up their pitchforks and torches on the way to 30 Rock...

I doubt NBC has anything to do with the lack of video from Johnson's 19.66 being out there. There are multiple videos of his 19.32, which NBC also has domain over, and one would think if NBC had any interest in protecting anything it would be Olympic video. It would seem to me because it was the Trials no one, of those who may actiually have a copy of that race, has taken the time, or had the interest, to put it on the internet.

If you go to that site that has lots of videos, and search for "19.66" there will be an entry for "2007 USA Championship 200m" that has a flashback look at his 19.66 at the beginning.

I bet alan1981 has it, but I think he got tired of people re-using all the stuff he uploaded.

I think the Olympic video is available since NBC is not the exclusive right holder. The IOC and other county's TV networks have the rights also, while the OT's are solely NBC's. So the fact maybe NBC is too disinterested to post it.

Might I add, I saw it live and in person.
