Bolt himself said it wasn't cold, just rainy.
No point trying to make the conditions sound better than they was, you just have to see how everyone else performed in that 200m race. The winning margin shocked me more than the time.

Two record-holders lined up in Stockholm Stadion last year. One was a former 100m record-holder, the other was the current one. Each had 100m to cover from start to finish, with the first one to the tape landing precious GP points and the distinctive honour we place on winners here.

Powell and Bolt lined up. Powell and Bolt sprinted as hard as they could. Powell and Bolt leaned at the finish. Bolt was... defeated... he went home the loser, despite the fact that he was the world's fastest man from 0-100m entering the meet.

It may happen with very low frequency, but it can be repeated at any venue near you.

So because people ain't blowing your third leg and following you, we are fools to pick against Bolt??? I mean you can't be serious man!!! Since when was it a crime to goes against the grain??? This has nothing to do with who is from where (ok well maybe the Jamaican posters) it has everything to do with who people feel might win regardless of what they are up against.

Ok we all know Bolt got the world records and can break every other record in track from the 100m to 10,000m. The point is, there is nothing wrong with rooting for other runners.

P.S. if this so-called fluke happens and Tyson or Asafa does win, I would suggest not logging on for a very long time, because you already know how its gonna come at you like a ton of bricks by some of the members on here!!! I mean, seeing that Bolt can't be beating this year no matter what anyone does right????

Just because I am a Tyson Gay fan doesn't mean I can't look at logic. I maintain that this year's results do not place Bolt at an "undefeatable" level. Of course, if Bolt is a consistent 19.1x-19.2x-19.3x runner than it would take a major choke for him to lose in Berlin. I, of course, recognize the possibility that he is this type of runner and understand your logic in thinking so. You are surely not far off, and I would not rule out 19.1x in Berlin. However, the flip side of this, which I believe also has some logic behind it, is the notion that Bolt's 19.23 was an out lier not representative of what he will run this year. You can not deny this as a possibility because he has not run near there this season. So that brings us back to saying that Bolt's race in Lausanne v Tyson's in NY did not elevate Bolt to undefeatable level.

I realize that this is reaching quite a bit, which I why I made the race prediction that I made, but I do feel obligated to point out the logic behind that viewpoint.
The point is, prior to Bolt's Lausanne race, we could only speculate about whether he was in as good shape as he was last season.

But now we don't have to anymore. He is in FASTER shape this season than last season. We just watched it with our own effing eyes. He ran almost a tenth of a second SLOWER last year in his 19.67 run or whatever it was prior to the olympics in his 200m test run in Europe. I think it was in London or Sweden or whatever, but anyway, this season in essentially that same test run 200 that he runs a month before world champs, he went .08 faster, except this time was with a toerrential downpour going on him. So he's obviously in CONSIDERABLY faster running shape this year than last year. So I mean, what the hell? If he's faster than he was last year, and you saw what he was doing last year, how is he supposed to be "touchable" this year? (He isn't... that's the WHOLE POINT).
While this is very convincing, it doesn't really address the point I made. Furthermore, Tyson didn't get a chance to peak last season like Bolt did, so his odds of PRing in the final are greater than Bolt's even without taking in account the possibility that the 19.23 doesn't reflect Bolt's usual championship form.

This is why I think he may only loose by as little as .15.

So no matter what, Gay will never beat Bolt ever again??? And quote me right next time before you make yourself look foolish.
You can SAY you think Bernard Lagat will run a 9.6x in the 100m this summer. You have the right to SAY whatever you want. But if you said something like that, I would obviously let you know why I felt it was illogical. Similarily, if you SAY you think a healthy Gay can possibly beat a healthy Bolt this season, I will point out that this is illogical as well, just as if you had said Bernard Lagat might run a 9.6x 100m I would have said that is illogical too. Any time I see an illogical opinion I point it out. That's the whole point of a message board. To look at other people's opinions and debate with them when they say weird stuff that you disagree with. If everyone just agreed and said "Ya uh huh" to everything then it would be boring as hell.

And for the second part, I never said "Gay will never beat Bolt ever again."

I said "A healthy Gay has no chance of beating a healthy Bolt THIS SEASON. Who the hell knows what will happen in future seasons. Bolt could retire for all we know, or Gay, no way to know that kind of stuff. But THIS SEASON anyone who knows track and field, and isn't super duper biased KNOWS that a healthy Gay CANNOT beat a healthy Bolt. He can't. He's not fast enough. Plain and simple. It's pretty obvious, and those denying it are only doing it because they like the fact that Gay seems like a very nice humble guy, and is a citizen of the same country that they are from. That still doesn't make it any more logical to say he can beat a healthy Bolt THIS SEASON though...

    One Love!
Why is it that pointing out that there are other fast people in the world is somehow "holding on to Gay being faster than Bolt"? Apparently if one wants to discuss the mens sprints they must never suggest there is anyone else but Bolt with talent.
Totally untrue. It's fine to say other people are super talented too. They are! It's just when people say things like "Bolt is the favorite in Berlin, but, Gay still might beat him" (justblaze said this) that is when people are like WTF???? Cuz it makes no sense. How would a healthy Bolt get beaten by a healthy Gay? A healthy Bolt is way faster than a healthy Gay this year. People who say otherwise are rather obviously only saying it because they are biased in favor of the U.S. due to being U.S. citizens. I doubt any unbiased person could ever actually think that a healthy Bolt gets beat by a healthy Gay this year in Berlin. It just doesn't make sense. Bolt is significantly faster. How could he lose, if they are both healthy? He can't. That's why everyone makes a fuss when you guys say he can. Cuz it's kind of ridiculous to say he can. And yet you keep doing it. Over and over. So we keep responding with "Huh????" over and over. Etc.
Well, first of all, upsets do happen, and no matter how long the odds are, fans of the underdog are going to point out this fact. This may be a little illogical but it isn't totally ridiculous. Secondly, the main thing we argue over is not how we think Tyson will win in Berlin (or even more absurdly, as onlooker suggested, that Tyson is the superior runner), but rather how we feel Tyson is being disrespected based on people's comments that he is way out of Bolt's league, which we feel he is not.
Please don't use actual logic towards these people!

Who said anything about Gay being faster??? And sorry to let you down, but only Jamaican poster tuck their tails and run off once their favorite athletes don't win. they might be in a place where they had no internet  That was a classic line of BS from someone that post on here in 2007!!
