Why is it that pointing out that there are other fast people in the world is somehow "holding on to Gay being faster than Bolt"? Apparently if one wants to discuss the mens sprints they must never suggest there is anyone else but Bolt with talent.
Totally untrue. It's fine to say other people are super talented too. They are! It's just when people say things like "Bolt is the favorite in Berlin, but, Gay still might beat him" (justblaze said this) that is when people are like WTF???? Cuz it makes no sense. How would a healthy Bolt get beaten by a healthy Gay? A healthy Bolt is way faster than a healthy Gay this year. People who say otherwise are rather obviously only saying it because they are biased in favor of the U.S. due to being U.S. citizens. I doubt any unbiased person could ever actually think that a healthy Bolt gets beat by a healthy Gay this year in Berlin. It just doesn't make sense. Bolt is significantly faster. How could he lose, if they are both healthy? He can't. That's why everyone makes a fuss when you guys say he can. Cuz it's kind of ridiculous to say he can. And yet you keep doing it. Over and over. So we keep responding with "Huh????" over and over. Etc.

JustBlaze1011, you quote several people (including yourself) in your post above this, just to tell us that 19.59 is "fast as hell." What would we do without you?

    I'll tell you why.

Tyson Gay was a considerably faster runner in 2007 than Usain Bolt was. Usain Bolt was not the fastest person in the world that year. Tyson Gay was. He was genuinely faster, even taking wind speed, or altitude or whatever anyone wants into account. By all measures he was genuinely a signicantly faster human being. But this year, Bolt is faster than Gay. Genuinely faster. Gay ran 19.58 in warm sunny weather and a nice tailwind. Bolt ran 19.59 in a cold torrential downpour into a slight headwind. Thus, to anyone who knows anything about track races, it is pretty obvious that Bolt is a hell of a lot faster this year than Gay is. THAT is why nobody gives a crap whether Gay was faster than Bolt in 2007 or not. Because it doesn't matter. Because THIS YEAR Bolt is faster. And the only thing that matters is how fast they are this year.
Should we mention that Bolt's race was at altitude and in July, and Tyson's was in May? Nah, better not.
Funny how that was left out huh??? But to me, it doesn't matter where he ran that time at, 19.59 is 19.59 you know!! Thats just fast as hell!!!

Lol. If you seriously think Gay is as fast as Bolt this season, you are going to be in for QUITE a surprise sir.[/quote:199rua92]

Lol, I don't think that, or I would have said so. My opinion on this topic, as I have apparently failed to make clear, is that this year's results do not prove that Bolt is "MMMMAAAAASSSSSIIIIIVVVEELLLLYYYY" ahead of Tyson, to use your lingo. I am under no allusions as to who will win the 200 in Berlin. I am predicting Bolt by .23-.15. I just want to defend Tyson because he is good enough to deserve it.

You know, many people are Bolt fans, I for one was defending this man during the times where his own countrymen left him for dead. I also know that many people were in awe of this man since he came on the scene. Believe me when i say that many of the posters are just waiting to see what he does next. However, when you have the few that refuse to respect a man of Tyson Gay's talent, it makes some people root against such a great athlete like Bolt. All this talk of Tyson and a host of other just racing for second in my opinion is disrespectful to that man and the others, and if memory serve me right Tyson has beaten Bolt in every single championship race they have faced off in. Many people bring up last season's Reebok meet to prove some point, but neglect to mention the ass whooping Tyson put on him in previous years..IN A CHAMPIONSHIP MEET!!! Why is that???

Is Bolt the odds on favorite?? HELL YES!!! Can Tyson beat him??? HELL YES!!! Do we actually know who will win??? UMMM NO!!! Thats why they run the races.

its gonna be a classic race between all of those in the finals.

PS, this wasn't directed towards you!!!

    Bingo!
Why would we want to?
Nice topic guys, I'm enjoying reading it all. That's why I keep visiting this site, especially when it includes the biggest and fastest star in the sport. If I didn't like the discussions here I would have gone elsewhere, as easy as that.

    Keep up the good work!

He is a car guy and does the wrenches on his own modified cars. Said he would have been a mechanic if not a pro athlete. He also handles the wrench work and upgrades on Usain's cars, (and mentioned he needed to upgrade Usains brakes)

He places orders ahead of time with a speed shop in Melbourne which imports from Japan and picks them up on his annual trip.

Got the feeling that was a large part of the reason for coming.

The tension between Powell and Bolt maybe more media hype than reality.
There is no tension(off the track) between both guys. In fact, they are best friends who hang out on ocassion.
