Speaking of Bekele, does anybody know why Tariku has not been racing? Perhaps he is injured. He did run 12:52 last year at age 21.

Is it correct that there have been 2 sub-13 races so far this season--Rome and Henglo? Or am I forgetting something....?

Counting indoors (and why wouldn't one?), it's 18-18

This has been addressed on other threads. Tegenkamo is on the team--he doesn't need to chase the "A" standard. However, if he does get it before July 31, that puts training partner Evan Jager, who has the "B" standard, on the team.

at the risk of scorn, I am not sure Mr. Rupp is quite ready for this neighborhood though it would probably do him some good to run a few of these races.
i think if rupp had been in this race, he would have had an excellent chance of running a big personal best, very possibly putting him ahead of teg on the all time usa list, his coach never dodged competition, so i am sure he will have rupp in lots of these kind of races.

yesterday on another thread i ripped at the americans distance runners for dodging big events, look at what happened today with the americans who gave themselves a chance by running this meet, ulrey nearly a 5 send personal best, vessey win in a personal best, wurth thomas 2nd in a personal best joining the sub 4 club, they all did GREAT.

when bob kennedy ran his 5 and 3k american records he was 5th and 8th respectively, when hall ran his 2:06 marathon he was 5th, that is a lot better than staying home and saying, well i can win the local firecracker 5k fun run easily.

to do good in a game you got to put yourself in the game, that is what i am saying.

It would do either of them no good to come through 2K under 5:00, jog around for a bit, then try and run the last 500 in under 70 secs. That's how most of the GL races work and it's no way to run a PB. The guys you see at the tail end certainly didn't run ~13:10 evenly, they died terrible deaths.

Bekele, in an IAAF article, says, "I am dreaming to win this jackpot," and regarding the WC, "I will definitely run the 10,000m but I have not decided about the 5000m."

I don't disagree, but I think Rupp could have worried the guy who came in 10th
