The sad news out of New Jersey is that Montclair State University Men's & Women's Coach Bennie Benson died of a heart attack at age 36 on Friday night. He leaves behind three children.

Bennie had rebuilt the MSU program in his nine years there into an excellent Division III program getting several top ten team finishes at NCAA meets.

There will be a memorial service at St. Mark AME Church, East Orange, NJ on Wednesday. The funeral will be in the Pittsburgh area where Bennie grew up.

Ah Bennie, we hardly knew ya. Way too young to go. I am shocked- I always liked Bennie. A pleasure to see him the few times I did.
