There were 12 men left in the competition at 5.40, but 2 of them hadn't cleared 5.30 (actually, one of them hadn't cleared any height until that point), so they couldn't end the competition at that point.

Yes, but they continued even after those two had both cleared 5.40. In any case, all remaining jumpers other than Holzdeppe already had a 100% certain spot. Even Michalski could have skipped 5.40 and still remained tied 12th (of course, he still had an incentive to jump in dropping the other guys tying for the last spot).

Harry could of done with a sub 10.10 in those conditions(he won't get better) and then beat Edgar and Pickering at Crystal Palace, he may of got a ticket to Berlin then.

Strange, cos he is still down to compete in Paris tonight. Mix up with dear brother ???

That ruddy NCAA aint good for all the athletes who want to go places in August. Last w/e the Brit Trials was a good example. Lee Emanuel a shadow of his best in the USA; Bingham the American Brit now crocked and wont do much individually, Chris Gowell in the 1.46s in the States looked rather tired.
