83.92 was certainly with rough surface javelin, but it seems to me that the 82.78 throw was not.

The actual truth is that Maznichenko's 1991 mark was set with the Nemeth javelin, when Raty's WR of 96.96 with it was disallowed so were all marks set with it.

Will need to check the 1990 mark, but I'm sure the reason is the same, however when I've received or downloaded national year lists containing lists of NRs the NR shown is Havras' 81.74 from 1987.

    why this is a NR?

    what's wrong with
    82.78 Andrey Maznichenko Adler 25 February 1990
or 83.92 Andrey Maznichenko Adler 26 Feb 1991
Ukraine wasn't independent then. A more probable reason, though, is that the meeting guys simply got that wrong But if Pyatnytsya stays healthy I predict he'll break the real NR soon enough.

Pitkämäki was quite satisfied with his first throw. That's surely not a good sign...

Sorry, the video is so broken that they went from 88m to a picture of TP having thrown and I assumed it was he that threw 88.
You know for minute there, you really ruined my day. Thanks alot.

2 out of 2 right there

Unsurprisingly (it of course being a major basis for my predictions) this was a howling success for the Very Nearly Live Formchart in general, the only deviation being Pyatnytsya's beating Frank.

    2. Tero Pitkämäki (Finland) =

Pitkämäki 86.68... I won't object if he spoils my prediction

And 81.96 NR for Pyatnytsya Happy because it's been all too long since I last spotted a non-obvious and underestimated on-the-rise athlete.

Pity about the small field. Luckily its strength is much harder to criticize. Wild prediction: Thorkildsen wins, Hill places last.
