Is that for real? Can an athlete hover around 12.90 for many meets in a row, looking less than themselves, and then blast a WL mark of 12.47?! That's great for Lolo! It was heart-wrenching to watch the Beijing final after her blazing 2008 season.

It is rare, but not unheard of, especially in the hurdles where it can be a rhythm issue even if all of the physical tools are there. Plus, she was running nicely before she got hurt so, if she is healed as she says she is, she might have just needed some races to get into form. We will see in the coming meets though.

I think Ivory Williams may be staking a claim on the relay team. He has ran conisistely at 10.flat ALL season. 9.93 is a new PR as well his last PR was 9.94.
niice did she make the u.s team, iknow shes had injury problems, got to see her back into form. nice time by jeter to, i'm hoping she peaks for berlin though

To go from a series of 12.9+- races to this is quite a shock. If she can repeat this and win all the rest of her races, and beat the best, she might just get #1 in the rankings. I suspect that the wind was more than helpful. Let's see how she does in London and Monaco. Another good thing is she's a new pick in the IAAF game.

Is this the WOW of the season. I think everyone was hoping she would come back and run some decent times maybe towards the end of the season, but to run this time, did anyone see that coming.

I think it would be VERY unlikely for her to end up ranked #1. Dawn would have to have a HORRIBLE rest of the season. Next year if both ladies are healthy it should be one for the ages!!!!

Lolo brings her back knee through very low (too low) and so she is always on the edge in terms of clipping a hurdle and going down.
Obviously when she is "on" this form works well but to be consistent she needs to improve technically. There is no reason a top female hurdler should hit hurdles as often as she does.

It IS great to see her win and run well !

                          yes!

gawd, watching Lolo hurdle is often like listening to someone scratch a chalkboard with his/her fingernails.

she must have great flat speed and supreme athleticism, because technically she is not close to the same level of Kallur, Harper or even Damu Cherry.

Jone's biggest technical deficiency is that she does not lean forward enough at the waste, she then comes out of her minimal, insufficient, lean too early - hence dangling trail leg that often clips hurdles and also does not get her trail leg back into proper linear alignment (knee drive) for foot strike, etc.

also, her arms are just too damn wide. they need to be more compact and controlled, with better backward action of trail arm elbow. but again, this problem is partly a function of her insufficient lean over the hurdle.

goodness, man. If Lolo Jones had better lean, stayed more forward, more linear, kept her shoulders forward and square and arms compact - she would break the world record - and fall less often.

it's almost irritating to watch sometimes, as much as I like her as an athlete and character overall.

This is probably the most unexpected thing I've seen since like, Carter's 19.63. I seriously don't get it. How the f*** did this happen??? She was totally injured/ruined for the season in all her races up to and including a week ago. And now she does THIS? What??????

Yes, it is real. Lolo had to be comfortable running fast after her injury. You have to remember, everyone had seven or eight races under their belts by the finals at US Champs. Lolo had not been over 10 hurdles at all until the opening round. That includes not even in workouts. She had only been over four max in outdoor workouts by the time she ran at Drake.

Her fitness was incredible at Drake but she had to sit for three week after she pulled up. You sit that long and you might as well be starting from the beginning.

If she were always a 12.8x + hurdler, then the mark is out there. Her fitness and confidence have to match for her to run fast times. The same goes for Harper or Cherry for that matter. Don't be surprised is she drops another 12.4x but also don't be surprised if she runs 12.75.
