How agonizingly close with no great news.
She's running out of chances and my guess that even if she did get the standard, she may be baked by the time she gets to Berlin with all the attempts.

I have been reliably informed by one who paid more attention than I in English Lit class that the title of the Browning opus is "from Ghent to Aix" not not the other way. Which only makes the allusion more apropos to this thread.
