Sounds like the reporter is an "old school" thinker. Show up, do your job and act like you've been there before.

But I like what Bolt and his training parteners Bailey and Blake do prior to races. I find it entertaining and it definitely shows how relaxed these guys are. And would you know it, they went 1-2-3 in the race too.

I thought Blake looked silly. He needs to come up with something else. Also, Bailey needs to stop displaying his thug mentality. I don't mind the pre-race antics, but it needs to be done tastefully.

Also, I agree that Blake needs to work on his interviewing skills. He did a poor job in that interview. I do expect him to get better. Bolt was not good when he just came out. Bolt is still improving. They all need to learn from SAF.

It's usually been if you're a contender you arent having any real fun! More like pacing back and forth dealing with nerves.
Though Bolt enjoyed himself quite a bit in the 100s through the rounds and before the finals, vs. Powell who probably took a piss in his pants when they called on your marks. If you're not bernard or bolt, you're in the middle and no fun there.

From 2004-2007 Track was boring as ALL HELL. I hated the way both TYSON and Safa were as charismatic as a loaf of bread. In my view, the sport is much more interesting when you have personalities to juxtapose against one another as opposed to everybody being all bland and all the same.

That's what made Lewis V Johnson such a great rivalry as opposed to Gay V Powell. When you have a variety of personalities, it allows the fans to pick and choose which one resonates with them. Do you like the boisterous braggadocio of Bolt, or the tranquil temperament of Tyson? The greatest sporting matches feature good guys vs bad guys whether it be Jesse Owens vs the Nazis in track, the USA vs the USSR in hockey, or Cassius Clay vs Sonny Liston in boxing.

When u are able to choose who you like and who you don't, it makes the sport more fun and entertaining to watch. Nationalism gives fans a vested interest during the Olympics, but personalities are what help distinguish runners from one another during the other 3 years.

just a little question, did Blake do his little dr evil impression at the trials when he came 6th, serious i don't remember if he did or not. because he done it at his last two meets and has set PBs both times, you can'tcomplain if it seems to have a positive impact on his races. also, Bailey doesn't even have to listen to them since he's not jamaican, he just trains with them

I think it's harsh calling some athletes boring etc.

We are who we are and you cannot force yourself to change. Some people are reserved and others like to clown around, we see that with our friends and families and with colleagues. You can't expect tyson to act like bolt, because he is who he is, a reserved and modest individual who happens to be an excellent athlete. Let him be. That's not to say I don't enjoy bolts after race antics, it suits him and what makes bolt.. well bolt.

Mo Greene and Crawford had a funny interview a few years back.

mo saying something about crawford always finishing behind him.

Mo Greene probably was the most entertaining, no silly dancing or anything pure focus and arrogance, that's what you want.

Michael Johnson while being a bit boring off the track, ran with a unique style and was great to watch because he was like a robot.

Bolt's alright as well because he's so god damn fast and jamaican so can get away with it.

Blake needs to think of something original and go out and do it, i think he's just naturally really cocky as well, but needs new material.

If Mckenzie starts hitting the big meets the starting line-ups are going to be funny.

Especially if Dix gets his injuries sorted, he seems like he's about to flip at any time and looks angry.

I think good guy/bad guy is the best way to get attention to the sport.
