Omigosh! Unless I'm missing somebody, this maybe the first Kenyan team in about forever where a must-take person is missing.

        Sarcasm, I presume.

I assumed he accidentally typed "is" instead of "isn't." But I haven't been paying close enough attention, so maybe there really is someone missing that shouldn't be.

Indeed. This is team is more representative of their elite than most in the past.

Looks like Olympic champ Bungei lost his appeal to be named to the team without running at the Trials.

My favorite highlights of the Kenyan selection procedure include no Kiptanui in 1992 or Komen in 1996.

Which is really dumb because Kirwa Yego is the wild card, so Bungei can be added as a fourth guy without costing any of the top 3 their spot. The Kenyans, as I recall though, have in the past always availed themselves of wild-card spots for some reason.

They added Koech despite his finishing 6th in the Trials. Maybe we could learn something from this. Kenya seems to be doing so.

Jepkosgei nipped Jelimo (who is still off 2008 form), while Kiprop ran 3.32.82 at Nairobi's 5500 foot altitude. Yego gets a bye. And we have another Kiprop...in the 5k. Finishes 1st, but isn't going. These are trials??? Sounds like Kenya is dispensing with the out moded US method.

Yes, my initial post switched the names of the women steeplechasers with the 5k. Original post now corrected.
