At 11:48am today I acknowledged the USAT&F link and I admonished "dakota" to comprehend that IAAF rules trump USAT&F rules.
IAAF rules trump them with respect to the meet itself, not in each country choice of selection, those are different.
    I agree.

    • Unfortunetaly, regardless of the personnel on the 4 X100, if they don't get enough repetitions with the exchanges; the U.S. won't make it threw the rounds in Berlin.

      • Carry on the debate....U.S. pool officially named:

        4x100m Relay pool:
        Tyson Gay (Lexington, Ky.)
        Michael Rodgers (Round Rock, Texas)
        Darvis Patton (Grand Prairie, Texas)
Monzavous "Rae" Edwards (Kansas City, Kan.)
        Travis Padgett (Marietta, Ga.)
        Shawn Crawford (Los Angeles)
        Terrence Trammell (Atlanta, Ga.)
        Wallace Spearmon (College Station, Texas)

        • I think the relay has one spot left.
Patton, Gay & Rodgers are locks.
What theyre gonna have to decide on is whether Dix is fit enough, or if Crawford will do the job. Somehow, I dont see them using Rae Edwards. Its going to be VERY important who they choose to lead off. For the US to have any shot at this, they'll need to lead the entire way- like Penn. We already know Bolt will make up ground on 3rd, so 1 & 2 are very critical.
I'd love to know what theyre leaning toward right now.

              Oh really??
So did he not go to camp like they said he would, or did he just not look good while there? Guess it doesnt matter now.
So who do you think they'll play around with?

                  I was afraid of that.
                  :? Oh well.
                  Back to the drawing board.

Camp hasn't even started yet but Dix just wasn't healthy enough.

                    • Pretty much as expected then in the absence of Dix. No room for Ivory Williams. I don't see a team to run 37.10 there. I wonder if they ought to just go with one of the two sub 38 cores which have run together a lot and keep it as safe as possible for silver and hope other teams don't perform that well. Trammell-Spearmon-Crawford-Gay wouldn't be a terrible idea at this stage although I appreciate Rodgers and Patton will probably be in the team. At least run that team in the rounds. Padgett-Crawford-Patton have run well together too but that would leave Gay on 1st leg which I can't see happening. If Gay gets hurt in Berlin Rodgers on 1st leg behind that latter combination would work. I know Edwards has a case but like others I can't quite see where they'd put him and I think experience is key through the rounds this year. It'll probably be Rodgers-Patton-Crawford-Gay then will it?

Im not sure that gives them the lead. I understand the set-up. Its just that the only person I think that'll hold off The Freak is Gay. In that 19.59, Bolt TORCHED Crawford on the bend. Passed him quickly, as though he were standing still. What youre betting is that 1 & 2 will give us a lead- and it might. But not enough for Crawford to hold off a lightening strike. That would work fine if it werent for Bolt, because Tyson would take care of Powell. I just cant see us getting by 3rd without Tyson there. On the other hand, even if Tyson holds off Bolt, it wont be by much, so whoever runs anchor against Powell will need to have the leg of his life. Im thinking Patton is up for it. The Atheist (God, I hate that name) had an idea with Spearmon there. He's got a nasty finish and thats what we need. Powell's never at his best against great topenders.
                        Could be worth a look.

What do you consider enough repetitions?

Once again I repeat what I have said in previous posts on the subject of Powell. WHAT in his past performances at WC/OLY. makes u think (gives any indication) that he will do anything special. Nothing I can find and I don't believe there has been a WC or OLY that snuck by the world w/o finding out. Yes, he anchored the OLY games but I would venture he is more likely to crumble than do anything worth a shit.

The ONLY way that could happen is a dropped baton or completely botching the handoff. The same could be said for Jamaica. They are not exactly the Russians when it comes to their exchanges.

                              • For those of you who know me, you've read this before. For those of you who don't know me ,this is what I have to say about ANY 4x1. There are four things that can happen to the relay.

                                (1) False Start

                                (2) Pass out of the Zone

                                (3) Drop the stick

                                (4) None of the above.

These are the very reasons why we speculate on the woulda, coulda, shudda after every race. 8-) 8-)
