Of course it matters. All the teams have a significant chance of dropping a baton, or getting DQ'd from stepping inside the line, or overstretching a zone. So, just in case Jamaica fucks up and gets DQ'd, every hundredths matters for the U.S., cuz if Jamaica get's DQ'd, it's still gonna be close for that #2 spot, so need to keep our team in the most optimal order possible to maximize our chance of getting 2nd which might become 1st if Jamaica get's DQ'd possibly.

Why put Rodgers on the curve and Crawford on the straight? Rodgers is a good straight runner, but not so hot at curves. Crawford is very good at curves. Why not put Crawford on the curve and Rodgers on the straight? Makes more sense no?[/quote:2v4zow2t]

You do realize the 1st line-up is an either or and the second answers your ? regarding Shawn [/quote:2v4zow2t]

Yea, I'm just saying, it shouldn't be an "either/or." Crawford definitely belongs on a curve, not a straight.[/quote:2v4zow2t]

My goodness, the 2nd lineup did that...oooh youu sooo argumentative[/quote:2v4zow2t]

I was referring to your first lineup, the one with Tyson. Where you said Mike/Crawford for 1st leg, and Crawford/Rae for 2nd leg. It should just be Crawford leg 1, not Mike/Crawford leg 1, and then for leg 2 that should be Mike/Rae or whatever.

The way you all are going back and forth about it, I'd a thought you two were actually coaches for the US team.

          I'm just saying lol

   oh my gosh Atheist, you are too much    ... That is my lineup ...the purpose of having two names is due to the fact that i haven't decided on my final pick...if you want crawford for your pick then make your own lineup...my gosh   Also crawford is a versatile runner, i do agree he can run a turn pretty well, but he's decent on the straight also...

The point is that Crawford is a multiple TENTHS of a second faster than guys like Rodgers and Edwards on the curve, and about equal to them or slightly slower than them on the straight, so you are making your team's overall time about 0.3 seconds slower by going Rodgers leg 1 Crawford leg 2 instead of going Crawford leg 1 Rodgers/Edward/etc leg 2. So, no reason to just waste a few tenths of a second for no reason whatsoever.

Atheist, what evidence do you have that Rodgers is tenths slower--or hell, that he is slower at all--running 100m maximally on a curve than Crawford? 200m times here are mostly irrelevant (less relevant than open 100m times) because we are talking about a single max 100m from blocks.

Watching them each run the curve in the past, Crawford is great on the curve, especially if he gets to be leg 1 where he gets to include his nice curve-start which he's good at. Rodgers not as much. Better to use Crawford on curve Rodgers on straight. Rodgers is faster than Crawford on the straight, but Crawford, from what I've seen in the past, is faster than Rodgers on the curve, unless Rodgers became wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better at the curve super recently in practice or something.

Perhaps, although if he were here squandering time, Pascal might have said it was a Pyrrhic victory.

Mike ran third plenty of times, 2008 Texas Relays giving the stick to Tyson. His first year on the circuit which was summer of 2006. So yeah Mike can run a curve. These are athletes, meaning they have talent to do and adjust to things...like running a straightaway or curve..yeah!!!

When it comes to these team, they don't have a choice where they will run, they will run where the COACHES feel best helps the teams...YEAH!!! So even tho it might not make sense to you, it makes sense to the ones being paid to coaches outstanding runners.

Only time you ever seen Mike run curve was probably during the beginning of the outdoor season, which means, he wasn't in tip top shape. Never the less, Mike can and has run curves, and when you factor in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FACTOR, he will do just fine.

You love putting so-called limits on people!!!

Actually, I've seen Mike absolutely blow Crawford's ass out the water on a bend. Wish I could find the youtube link.
