Trinidad can pick:
1) The Olympic silver medallist PB 9.89 SB 10.01
2) The only man to reach the last three major 100m finals PB 9.96 SB 10.04
3) The former world silver medallist and world junior record holder PB 9.99 SB 10.05
4) Their choice of three men who've run 10.03, 10.08 and 10.10 this year.
USA have more chance of losing to Trinidad than they got of beating Jamaica!

The US has more than 4 guys with better SBs than anyone from Trinidad. If you consider speed with a run-in, it is even more dramatic.
I think there is a probability though of >50% that the US doesn't get a medal. Point being that we seem to get the stick around without issues less than half the time. Even when the stick gets around, the hand-offs can be complete crap (ie 2004) and cost lots of time. The US has had probably 4-5 teams that should have been able to put together a sub 37, but it never happened because of poor stick management. It is a lot easier for teams with smaller pools to at least get the requisite work here since there aren't as many options and many of their athletes don't have much of a chance as an individual and can dedicate more time to putting together a good relay leg (with equally good exchanges).

Originally posted by texas_speedThis is all hypothetical so its pointless. Speedfirst gave you one lineup so go with that. You listed a bunch of guys who aren't even in contention for the US relay so I guess you just feel like arguing.
Trinidad WILL NOT finish ahead of the US unless we drop the stick again.
How's that?
