What do you consider enough repetitions?
A national relay team needs continuity and consistant practice , similar to a college team. Sure the logistics of getting the nations fastest runners together often enough would be a challenge, but it would take that kind of commitment to get back on track. The Dream team and the Redeem team come to mind as possible parallels.

How about not using the same old relay coach(es), and not putting runners with 2 previous baton mishaps onto future relay teams?

    Just an idea.

Jeapers.Asafa's only shot at gold is in the relay. You figured he would take that a little more seriously.

My American team would be : Tyson Gay, Walter Dix, Wallace Spearmon, Darvis Patton, Xavier Carter, Michael Rodgers, Shawn Crawford , and Ivory Williams. I just don't trust Edwards or Padgett for some reason.
My Jamaican team would be : Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake, Steve Mullings, Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Marvin Anderson, and Dwight Thomas. Who would your relay pools be, if all were healthy.
    XAVIER CARTER?!?!?!?!?!?
    What????
You cant seriously think that X belongs there over Padgett or Edwards, two guys who've been consistently running with the others on relays all season. Not to mention, Xman is shot. I hate to say it that way because he's a tremendous talent and we hope he breaks through at some point. But I wouldnt trust him over Pad/Rae at this juncture. If X had put together an entier season where he improved and stayed injury-free, AND run a few 4x1's with those guys, I'd be all for it. In fact, did you see Rae at the Texas Relays??
One of the most spectacular anchor rundowns EVER. And Padgett ran 2nd on that Penn Relays 4x1 that SLAUGHTERD Jamaica and set a meet record- 37.92. ...Wouldnt be wise to count them out.

Carter? for the 400m relay? would you really trust him over that distance now?

I agree. An ankle that badly hurt takes a long time to get back to 100%, if it ever does.

Here we go again. More positive stuff out of Asafa's camp.

    http://www.world-track.org/?p=3591

"Jamaican World bronze medallist Asafa Powell has fully recovered from the ankle injury that sidelined him for several weeks and is now ready to challenge for the gold medal in Berlin.Speaking on HITZ92FM radio station, Powell’s agent Paul Doyle said things were heading in the right direction for the former world record holder."His (Powell) ankle which caused him to lose several weeks of training is a thing of the past," Doyle said. He’s now 100-percent healthy. "He had a little bit of hamstring tightness a few weeks ago from the heavy training he was doing but that has also subsided."

I'm just not buying what Powell's agent is selling. At this point I think I'm going to take a wait and see approach. And even if he breezes through the rounds like he did in Beijing last year I'm still going to wait until AFTER the finals. He has disappointed far too often for me to take his word that he is ready.
