    IAAF WC Game

If I understand it correctly they let you pick 20 athletes (10 male/10 female) and a captain. That's more than a 50% chance of getting them right, which seems easy enough for many people. I am afraid this is too easy. I can think of 18 probable winners off the top of my head!

All from different countries? Anyway, the probability all of your 18 actually will win is pretty much zero. If it wasn't T&FN's pick-20-winners-game would have plenty of everything-correct people annually... Or are you joking with me not getting it?

    This looks shaky though:
Once you have selected your team it may be changed with no penalty until midnight 24 August (Osaka local time).

      Where does it say that?

In the medals game in 2007 I got 19 winners, so it's not that difficult to do, unless they do have to be from different countries.

That's just to add difficulty.

That was 19 out of 47 - a bit different to 18 out of 20.

Yes, only one per country, man or woman. The same applies to relays, you have to have 4 countries, one per relay.

BTW, does anybody know, which relays qualified for Berlin? I can't find it.

Where exactly is all this laid out? I've been looking, can't find it. Never mind I see it now under Help.

The qualifying period ends 3 August. After that date, the IAAF will probably publish an official list. But it's simply all teams that met the qualifying standard since 1 Jan 2008 - you can look at the world lists for 2008 and 2009, and work it out yourself.

The veil has been removed from my eyes. This will be very interesting. Are there 20 different countries?..............just kidding, I think. Thank God the USSR broke up.

Well I just whipped up a team of 10 athletes per sex per different country. With another 10 countries on hold. Not difficult. So now it's a question of winnowing down the countries. Fun!

It is not (10 different for men and 10 different for women) it is REQUIRED to be 20 different countries. In 2007 if you looked at a formchart there were not in fact athletes from 20 different countries (considering 10 for men and 10 for women) that were favored to win. The winner (even with 9 changes during the event) did not get 20 for 20. This is not an easy thing to do.

And only 22 countries got any gold medalists at all.

I am well aware of this!

I never said I had winners. I merely said it is easy to come up with 20 different countries with top athletes. My list (currently) has 16 olympic winners and/or No: 1 TFN rankers. I've got 7 more at 2d.
