EPO for hurdlers, really? is there evidence that EPO would even materially affect a hurdler's anaerobic stamina? Sigh.

I have been informed that my statement on the record situation isn't quite correct. While Davis IS the AJR holder, as of this year USATF will also require EPO tests for its records.

edited to clarify that USATF is now in line w/ IAAF on records, so it's not just EPO that needs to be tested for, in case I gave that impression.

so at a normal high school or college meet (where most of these records would likely be set) who is supposed to do the testing? And who would cover the cost? Doesn't seem very practical.

Kebba - It's not 100% clear, but it looks like USADA will pick up the tab, since they'd do the test:

          http://www.usatf.org/about/legal/antido ... Record.asp

Actually getting to a tester within 24 hours is another matter...

As I read it, USATF doesn't require doping tests of any kind for U.S. records other than "open" (i.e. absolute) American Records.

Was the previous record holder tested?

irrelevant (not completely fair, but irrelevant; rules evolve)

Speaking of Wayne Davis does anyone know why he has not competed since the early part of the indoor season. I believe I heard that he was having some lower back issues. He is not listed to compete this weekend in Eugene. A healthy Davis could sure help the Aggies repeat their outdoor title.

They require it for Junior Records as well.
