  • Bryce Love-Record setting 11 year old

    http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1590391.html

Love, who is 5 feet 6 and weighs 130 pounds, started running track seriously two years ago. Last summer, he finished second in the national age-group 400-meter finals

5-6 isn't your typical 11-year old, is it.

50.75  I am (nearly ) speechless. He is a big kid for 11 years but still...he has got to be the furtherest outlier from outliers.

Takes just a tick or two off of the old age-11 record of 54.21.

He is actually 12, not that it makes that much difference. His birthday is July 8th. 5'6 for a 6th grader is still well inside the norm.

This is an interesting and humbling list. I have to go back to age 14-15 in every event for my PBs to still be better than this list. ops:
At least, I am still better than all the girls/women except in the HJ where I have to back up to age 16. ops: ops:

Note that the list only includes marks from 43 countries. The guy who maintains it apparently has issues with age verification in much of the world. Even IAAF-ratified world junior records from Africans are off the list.

Could be worse - it is back to age 13 for me.
