"Former Great Britain sprinter Darren Campbell believes Tyson Gay will beat Usain Bolt at the World Championships in Berlin, if the American runs just the 200 metres."

Not sure I agree. In fact I believe Gay's best shot at gold is in the 100m. Because if Bolt gets a really bad start and Gay gets out well Bolt will close but he might run out of track. In the 200m I think Bolt has plenty of room to make up whatever lead Gay might have off the curve. It's going to take sub 19.40 to win the gold in Berlin and I'm not entirely sure Gay has that in him.

As for picks, here is a link to some predictions for the sprints:

I don't know about anyone else but I get the impression some pockets of the British media just simply don't like Bolt and want to see him beaten. Jackson was spouting his usual tripe at CP about how he thinks Bolt won't even run the 200m in Berlin!

Where does this dislike come from? Did Bolt make a comment about British sprinters that offended them?

I don't think so but it's just my impression. I could be wrong of course.

I agree with the above, plus I'm not sure Gay will hold up well through 8 rounds of sprinting, after everything we've heard about his injuries and how he had to take it easy in terms of racing this year.

I think the reason is that the Brits, generally speaking, hold, with wooden rigidity, to an antiquated and unnecessary "etiquette" that sees enthusiasm beyond a smile as an immature indulgence of the "unrefined". So, Bolt is not allowed within their universe of "jolly-good ol' chaps" because he offers more than a smile, a wave, and a handshake. He's incorrigible.

Of course, my tongue is firmly planted in cheek...well, at least half-way.

Why does it have to be dislike? Everyone doesn't have to root for Bolt and if you decide not to, why again is there the association of dislike?

I haven't pikced up a dislike from the British media for Usain Bolt, if anything the reverse, he seems to have rejuvinated an interest in athletics following his exploits in Beijing.
We must be reading and seeing different reports nevetslim

I too thought the BBC commentators were all very positive about Bolt.

Not surprising that you find another reason to nit pick. Simply could have been avoided if you READ ALL THE POSTS PROPERLY. Take a look at the entire quoted comments above and pay attention to the spot in bold. I was simply asking the poster the reason for the perceived dislike. Last time I checked don't like and dislike are the same thing.People can route for whomever they want. Doesn't bother me one bit.

What nitpick? You said/asked about dislike, now why don't YOU show some evidence of folks disliking Bolt? You have no idea what I read properly or otherwise, wise guy

Like I told YOU before, don't want me to reply, take a hike then, that simple, but if you choose to continue to post nonsense, I'll reply to it, got it.

P.S. even others in this thread stated they don't see the dislike  .. guess they're nitpicking also..WOW

Before I make another comment, lemme just clear this up. Were you asking ME Speedfirst why I thought there was dislike for Bolt? Were you talking to me when you said "Why does it have to be dislike? Everyone doesn't have to root for Bolt and if you decide not to, why again is there the association of dislike?"

You quoted me so I'm assuming you are throwing that reply my way.

That was for whomever feels that way or even has that as an impression. You asked where does this dislike come from, so I ask again, who said it is dislike, to make that factual?

In the post you replied to, the poster stated they get the impression some pockets simply don't like Bolt.

To me you're feeding into the dislike notion, by asking where does the dislike come from, as if you brought into that, maybe I'm mistaken, that's my take on it.
