Defar vs. Dibaba

Is there a greater rivalry in track now, or even in the last 10 years?
Who is your pick for Berlin?
Who will have the greater legacy when all is said and done?
Will a WR be broken by either at Berlin?
Can anyone else challenge these two?

I wouldn't say it's a great rivalry. Apart from the 2005 World Championships, they've rarely had good races at major championships. At the 2003 World Champs, Defar didn't make it to the final and Dibaba was never with the pace at the Olympics in 2004. Dibaba withdrew in 2007 and the race in Beijing was such an anti-climax.

I'm really not sure who is going to win in Berlin. I'd probably say Defar in the 10000m and Dibaba in the 5000m but it depends about her fitness. She ran 14:33 at CP but she didn't give too much away.

When they are both fit they finish about a foot from each other in a 58 last lap. That was not Defar in Bejiing. Baby face looked pretty good in her last race but Defar has looked better. I think Baby face will be remember more in the end for her double victories and i think she will win in Berlin for no other reason than im in love with her.

There are few who wouldn't call this a great rivalry and that doesn't answer my question.. Has there been a better rivalry in the last ten years?

Across two events. Between WR holders. With such an exchange of dominance from season to season.

I expect it to peak in Berlin. A great distance track. WR's should fall.
I'll take Defar this time around.

Probably not actually, unless Abeylegesse feels like going on a suicide mission and takes the pace from the gun or Defar pays one of her teammates to do so. It's hard to run WR pace with one eye on another person and there's too much on the line.
Thus far this season, Dibaba hasn't looked like she is anywhere near WR form anyway. But she's probably up in Addis now getting things sorted so NYC and London might be irrelevant.

those 2 are amazing they can probably be the best in the world in anything from the 1500 to the marathon and everyhing in beween, i think they could even be medal contenders in the 800.
last year dibaba won the 5 and 10k so its defars turn, i pick defar to win the 5 and 10k double worlds.
