wow.. i'm surprised at how much i agree with your picks.. i think Choge could medal in the men's 1500..
and i pick Defar to win the 5K.. i'm not sure if Dibaba is running both.. and Defar will also at least medal in the 10K.. she may win that too.. she's running well right now..
    Vlasic in the HJ..

something tells me that Gay will scratch in the 100.. and Powell will silver.. but i wouldn't bet on that..

Mine don't vary too much at all. Although I think Balta will sneak a bronze in the long jump and my w800m prediction is same as Beijing. I wouldn't be surprised if Harting wins silver in the discus and Pitkamaki comes third instead of second in the javelin.

You forgot the women's marathon though. I'd probably go 1. Radcliffe, 2. Mikitenko, 3. Shibui.

Race walking - Kaniskina, Borchin and Nizhegorodov to win the major titles. Fernandez to win a silver and bronze (if he doubles).

I don't think Fernandez is doubling. The Spanish team (as per IAAF article) shows him in 20k only, with the full three others nominated for 50k.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pitkämäki took 1st Thorkildsen has never won WC gold and Pitkämäki has beaten him in last three editions of Berlin Golden League.

Can't argue with most of those picks, agassiz, but in the m400H I think Clement will get lucky, hit his stride and win. In the wSt I still think Barringer will steal a medal! Maybe wishful thinking on both. 8-)

I an having a heck of a time with third in the men's 200m.
Besides Spearmon, can you guys make the case for a few others?

                It would really help!

                    agassiz - Good picks!

I do think Clement will medal. Baba winning HJ seems a bit optimistic. Can't see him beating both the top russians.

I really dont think Taylor will come through an win Gold in the hurdles

van zyl Isa Phillips and either Jackson or Clement will come through. I feel like The gold medal is up in the air with all of them though.

Although I'm not finished with doing my picks, I can say the would be very similar to yours. I'll post them soon.
So you would give gold to Nerius?

I hope you all will enter Ronald's contest http://www.atletiektoto.nl/

Does anybody know if there are other medal picks available (e.g. Sports Illustrated, NBC, ...)

I'm deliberating over the javelin. I think I'll go with Spotakova - Nerius - Abakumova.

Crawford hasn't done much in the 200m since the trials. But, it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up in third.
