As for you Mike67, the last thing I'm going to say to you is that you are a classless individual and you give Americans a bad name.

[quote=Alan Shank]Originally posted by Megas15Originally posted by "Alan Shank":37tps21lOriginally posted by Megas15My predictions are as follows:
1. Jeter wins the 100m gold - sets new WC record.
2. Felix wins the 200m - also sets new WC record.
3. Demus wins 400m H - sets new WR.
4. USA womens 4X100m wins gold and breaks AR (possibly sets new WR).
5. Gay upsets Bolt in 100m wins gold - sets new WR.
As Marlow said, "pure wishful thinking". Do you really believe any of those besides #3?
Cheers,
Alan Shank

Just in case you misinterpreted, the WC = World Championship & WR = World Record.
womens : (WC record)100m =10.70 M Jones (Jeter ran wind aided 10.72); 200m = 21.74 Moller (Felix PB=21.81 and recently ran 21.88); 4x100m = 41.37, (US women ran a trial 41.57 yesterday)
mens WR: 100m is 9.69 Bolt (Gay already ran a 9.68 wind aided)
still wishful thinking??
For #5, likewise, Gay has to beat Bolt, which is quite unlikely.
Actually, #2 is not beyond the pale.
These are all unlikely in varying degrees; do you know about compound probability? P(1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5) = p(1) * p(2) * p(3) * p(4) * p(5).
I ask again: do you really believe those?
Cheers,
Alan Shank

I believe so. And no, I do not know about compound probability; but, what I'm suggesting is not only probable...it is very much possible. Let's wait and see in a weeks time.

My predictions:
1. Mustafa Mohamed beats Jukka Keskisalo in the Steeplechae.
2. Michel Tornéus beats Tommi Evilä in the Longjump.
3. Salem Sdiri see a javelin, grab it and by coiincidence he see Pitkämäki 30 meters away...
4. SonyEricson sell more mobile-phones than Nokia next year.
5. Finland gets tired of having president and switch to Monarchy and Princess Madeilene of Sweden becomes the Queen of Finland and at the same time Finland switch National Anthem and adopt Swedens anthem.

P.S. Don´t show this to my girlfriend, she is from Finland...

Now re-apply the same logic.

I am DYING to see Caster run the 800m, like someone else suggested, my mind is half on a possible WR and a huge media circus.....

1. Jessica Ennis will win the heptathlon with a 6700+ score and will break at least one British record along the way.
2. Gay will withdraw at some stage. Hopefully he'll make it through at least one of the individual events, but I'll be very surprised if he gets through the rounds of the 100m, 200m and relay without picking up an injury.
3. Caster Semenya will win the women's 800m, while Pamela Jelimo will not win a medal and the British girls will once again fail to reach the final.
4. Marta Dominguez wins the women's steeplechase, while the men's title will go to one of the French guys.
5. Sanya Richards will win the 400m and Christine Ohuruogu will be out of the medals.

1. Jessica Ennis will win the heptathlon and will be top 3 in BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
2. The BBC will apologise about mentioning d***s when commentating on Dwain Chambers but will proceed to do so endlessly.
3. TBO will not make it a hat-trick of Championship victories.
4. Mo Farah will not live up to the BBC commentators inflated expectations, but will be top non-African runner. His tactics will be spot on though apparently (This will be pretty much the same for any British distance athlete no matter how crazed their race strategy).
5. The WR will be equalled in the women's high jump.
I'm only jesting at my ribbing of the BBC as I'm actually gutted that like the Olympics last year I for the most part will outside the UK and will have to make do with local TV coverage, if they have any at all. From the trailers on the BBC it looks like they will be giving it the full 'this is why I justify the licence fee' treatment once again.
