If I were in Berlin, I can guarantee you the beer would be my demise. I was lucky just to make it out of Eugene. :-)

      1) jamaica will fail to match their amazing performance in the 2008, but will win 4 golds.
      2) sanya richards will win the 400 by at least 4 meters (1/2 second)
      3) the debacle of beijing when both us 4 x 1 teams dropped the button will not happen again
      4) no WRs in any field events
      5) gay and bolt will each finish the meet with 3 medals.

        2. Felix wins the 200m - also sets new WC record.
        3. Demus wins 400m H - sets new WR.
        4. USA womens 4X100m wins gold and breaks AR (possibly sets new WR).
        5. Gay upsets Bolt in 100m wins gold - sets new WR.

        * My instinct tells me that Jeter was recovering from a slight injury from the US championship and was advised to run at about 70% without any explosive speed in the early rounds of the European circuit. When folks were saying she was peaking too soon she said she wasn't. She has a VERY experienced coach.
Finally got some Internet access here in Prague after attending the WC in Berlin. So:

        1. Jeter gave a good account of herself, especially with a PB 10.83 in semi, but proved no match for Fraser and Stewart in final. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt!!!
        2. Felix did indeed win the 200, easily, but no CR. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt!!
        3. Demus ran very well, breaking 53, but Melaine Walker rounded into her best form at the right time and ran the 2nd-fastest all-time 400H. BzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzT!!!
        4. Unfortunately, they decided to run Muna despite the fact that she was heavily bandaged, and she didn't make it out of the passing zone. At least this was not a problem with exchanging the baton, as such. Since Jamaica ran only 42.06 in the final, this was a race the US might actually have won. However, Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt!!
        5. Gay got a fabulous start, never trailing Powell, and ran a great race, breaking the AR with a 9.71 and beating Powell by .13; Bolt, however, beat Gay by the same margin. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt!

Overal, 0 for 5 is known in baseball as "taking the collar".

Again, sports patriotism leads to unwarranted optimism.

          3. Caster Semenya will win the women's 800m, while Pamela Jelimo will not win a medal and the British girls will once again fail to reach the final.
          4. Marta Dominguez wins the women's steeplechase, while the men's title will go to one of the French guys.
          5. Sanya Richards will win the 400m and Christine Ohuruogu will be out of the medals.
Sh*t, Jon! Any thoughts on the lottery numbers this weekend?! :P

            1) they matched their performance from the 2008 olympics
            2) sanya did win by 0.4
            3) relay debacle got repeated, no medals, regardless of how it happened
            4) wlodarczyk got a wr in the hammer
            5) bolt got 3 golds, gay 1 silver.

THANK GOD FOR SANYA OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN 0 for 5 !
