Yes, many thanks for that, gh. That should keep some of us out of trouble over the next few days...
I'm struck, once again, by the tremendous disparity in the numbers of countries and athletes from event to event to event.
The Relays of course, with only 1 entry / Country are down near the bottom in number of entries with all 4 relays between 14 and 18 Countries.
Other events with less than 20 Countries represented are:
(note - the bracketed numbers of countries, not entrants).
* W. 10000 m. (11), W. 5000 m. (15), M. 10000 m. (17),
W. Heptathlon (19), W. Shotput (19).
One of the issues perhaps reflected by these numbers, is the increasing number of nations who don't want to send their best distance runners, only to have them lapped once, or twice...
Largest number of entrants are in the M. Marathon (101), M. 100 (100),
W. Marathon (80), M. 200 (78), W. 100 (73). These are with the proviso that there are 4 entered in some of these events by a few Countries, so the final start numbers will be down a bit.

Why is "X-Man" the alternate for the Men's 200?
"DO" wrote last month that "X-Man" is having another ankle surgery and is out for the season.
"epelle" who is very accurate IMHO had listed three races for "X-Man" last month which he didn't run. In addition, I found no races for "X-Man" after USAT&F, so I assume that he cannot run at WCh.
I'm looking forward to close races in the 100 & 200, but I hate to admit that Tyson Gay does have an injury, so it is possible that "X-Man" may be able to run. Does anyone know wassup? Thanks.none

He did have surgery as DO said, but I think he recovered MUCH better from that one then the last surgery.
With that said I don't expect to see him run.

He was present at the camps. I am 100% positive of this, what his participation was, I'm not sure of.

All the relayists were in Berlin, bused to Cottbus for the meet and then back to Berlin.
You're saying he was in Cottbus at relay camp and was flying to Berlin last night?
He was not at the Cottbus meet sorry for the confusion.
