Ohh so much easier Just take your 1 £ and take it times the decimal odds!
1£ on Kozmus to 4,50 gives you a return of 4,50£ if winning. Can't be that hard could it
Thanks for that. All logic says it it is easier, but until betting websites came along I wasn't even aware that odds came as decimals, living on a secluded island and all that  .
As to why bookies seem to have an obsession with a certain athlete. From my limited knowledge of how the books work in another niche betting sport Formula One, big betting companies will employ the services of someone close to the sport, usually a journalist, to give advice on who is the people's favourite (e.g. people will bet on Usain Bolt to win even if he arrived with his leg in plaster), most likely likely to win, who could be a dark horse etc.. If that journalist has a lot of love for a certain athlete then the bookie is likely to offer short odds. That one journalist may offer his advice to more than one company.
Then what tends to happen is that other betting sites kind of mirror what other betting sites offer, maybe giving slightly more tempting odds in some cases to attract competition. Then throw in a bit of nationalistic bias which skews odds a bit, the complex mathematics bit to ensure that the bookie always wins no matter what and you have sometimes what looks like an odd favourite.
Remember too that a favourite is sometimes he or she who has had the most money placed on them, not necessarily who is the most likely to win.
Anyone got any good accumulator tips? I think accumulators will be my best bet because there don't seem to be too many dark horses anywhere.
I did a goliath (which is a bit like an accumulator, but you still get a return if one or more wins) on these:
Semenya, Majewski, Jeter, Benabbad, Kiprop, Taylor, Dominguez, Ohuruogu
