Friedrich comfortably makes 1.95 with her first jump. Chiecherova's clearance was bigger, though 8-)

Slesarenko living dangerously with third-time clearances at both 1.92 and 1.95, but she's through.

Not much to interpret in this qualifying. And don't be nasty, you Poles really won enough . Let us hosts enjoy a medal or two.

Hey, I'm not saying Chicherova is likely to beat Friedrich in the final. Nowhere near it. I just liked her jump at 1.95 and think she's ready to do well.

And BTW, Germany has already won 3 times as many medals as they had in Beijing

              Anna looked great
Elena  another heart attack for her and her fans after Beijing qualifying

Vita Palamar maybe it's time to say goodbye

              Aitova the biggest casualty

Really feel sorry for Tonia! She missed th chance of her life.... At least, she proved herself that she she is capable of making finals...She was so close....Really

And all that when Aitova and Palamar are out....Slesarenko made the hit...

Friedrich said afterwards that she is in record form, did not specify whether she is aiming for the German Record, World Record or using it as a catchphrase though.

For purely aesthetic reasons, can I just say how nice it is to see Emma Green again.

As the athletes came in Friedrich wore a hood and glasses, looking dead serious. Vlasic stood above them all, grinning. One could read what one wants into this. Retroactively.

i read that blanca maybe needs a wr to win :-). 1,95m to start into a world championship qualifying. i think i would not dare. did someone else did this ever.
funny thing if some more girls are out at 1,92m friedrich maybe had to be the only one to attempt at 1,95.

Friedrich's 1.95 is the highest ever entrance in a HJ competition...

before Friedrich, the highest ever entrance was Heike Henkel's 1.91 at the 1992 Olympic final
