Emma Green impressed me as well. She looked focused and confident. Hope she can keep that up in the final. Could be an interesting surprise bronze medal, perhaps?

I think it's between: Chicherova and Chicherova,

Sorry, American humor. I think Chicherova will win bronze. She has the accomplishments and the better performance over Beitia. She was 3d in Beijing and 2d in Osaka, both times with 2.03. Beitia has not done well in her last two majors. Pure speculation, of course.

Did Vlasic get a "Prefontaine" injury?

Except that I noticed that her hair was weird (before I heard about the injury). I geuss she must have had it plastered down over the stitches.

Incredible stat!   Especially in the high Jump.

                    Record?....
Yes, breaking her tie with Bergqvist.

On the men's side, this will be 8th WC, but nobody has made more than 5 finals.

(all this findable in the downloadable IAAF stat book)

She would need to step up significantly to have a chance. She's never gone higher than 1.98 in her life.
She's won a WCh medal before, but that was in crap weather in Helsinki, where she proved to cope with the conditions better than most. Possibly if it rains during the final in Berlin, she'll have a better chance.

I have a feeling that the WR could become a target today.

The final is less than two hours away. Starting to get nervous. *g*

What do you think: at which height will Friedrich first enter the competition? 2,01 m or something like that? 8-) (Let's hope she doesn't pull an Issinbayeva... *g*)

I feel the same. Two great athletes that are going to be seriously going at it.
If you're ever walking down the beach and you see a girl dressed in a bikini made out of seashells, and you pick her up and hold her to your ear, you can hear her scream.

I liked Chicherova's 1.95m jump in qualifying. If she brings her A game it may be more than two of them going at it (hopefully)

She appears to be the only one passing the opening height of 1.87. I'm thinking she might be passing 1.92 as well and start at 1.96.
