Can't wait to see how the USA trio acquits themselves. In times past, two of the three wouldn't even make the final, but I see better results this time.

Alminova ran 3:58.38 a couple of weeks ago, so the PB is not up to date.

The Americans have been very impressive. Still, I think the odds are against them beating more than one of Alminova, Burka, and Jamal.

Nancy La(n)gat not listed at all. The provisional entry list shows Nancy Jebet Langat as one of Kenya's entries; the DOB matches that of Nancy Lagat, Olympic champion. It lists her 2009 best as 4:05.05.

Wurth-Thomas has used quite varied tactics this year, but in Stockholm showed a very strong finish, beating Rowbury by 2.4 sec. In that race, Lyshchinska dnf, and is not listed in top 10. She has been injured, but also medaled twice.

I would think that Jamal will not be overconfidant this time and try to run away with 450 to go.

Although Christin Wurth-Thomas is not my favorite 1500m runner, I hope she makes the final as she would make it an honest pace. She has consistently demonstrated more "guts" in the 1500 than anyone on the circuit this season making the most of her talent.

The only one I see beating Jamal is Alminova.

Neither do I and no offence to Jamal but I just can't seem to warm to her. :? Unless there's a pace laid on, she's generally left clueless.

I think Rodriguez is a medal contender in a slow race but not so much in a fast race, which I think it will be.

Too much to expect Yevdokimova to play rabbit again like AThens? Would certainly play to Jamal's strength so maybe the Russian chargies will talk her out of it?

ALL of these ladies have under perforformed at majors when I think about it. Jamal was a disaster last year and in Helsinki. Alminova has only had one season and hasn't run faster than 4'01 outside Russia. She also didn't look like a world champion to be at the Euro cup. Burka has had the talent for years but not one medal. Rodriguez had PB'd at three different majors and has extra strength this year. Worth Thomas is race savy and strong. If Yevdokimova takes it out, I'd say it will be straight forward Jamal - Alminova - Burka.

If not, I don;t think Jamal will even medal.

oh please, she just beat both burka and savinova. yes, she has disintegrated and crumbled before, but (just like sanya), this is jamal's year.

oops, i was thinking of london, and she beat burka there, but savinova wasn't in the race (she was in the 800 and handily beaten, so that's what i had in mind). but i still think this is her year, and sanya's and naide's.

IMO Rowbury isn't as sharp/confident as she was last year...especially after seeing her out run by Wurth-Thomas in a not so fast (4:03+ ) time. But it would be sweet to see all three American's get in the final and one get in for a medal...Willard the most likely.
