Red flag in WC 1500m ?

IAAF Rules clarity review seems needed here.
A track event Umpire lacks authority to make a final decision, instead raises a Yellow flag and makes an immediate written report on the incident to the Referee. -- IAAF Rule 127
A field event Judge indicates the validity of a trial [jump or throw] by raising a White flag or non-validity by raising a Red flag. -- IAAF Rule 126
The Referee shall not act as a judge or umpire. -- IAAF Rule 125 (Actions that a referee can take include declaring "an event void and be contested again either on the same day or on some future occasion.")

Umpires commonly observe from the track's outer edge. If a Red flag was raised by an on-field judge, it may have been to signal that a long jumper or javelin thrower stepped over the foul line.

I find that VERY hard to believe. I'd dare say it's "0 Kelvin"-like impossible. Unless she covered the first 1200 in 7 minutes that is.
Reference?

I also thought that Rodriguez was one of the favorites to win.
I read in a race recap that at the Spanish national championships, she closed the last 300 of her race in 40 seconds.

on that likely assumption for the africans, it was expected they were saving all their energy for the final & expected to run close/at their sbs

I did find myself feeling quite sorry for her after the finish. The look on her face as she was down with Burka with the recognition of what she had wrought for Burka and for herself. Certainly a moment she wanted back and knew she could not hit a 'rewind' button. Malicious is not the first word that comes to mind and she will likely be cautious about anything close to a replay in the future -- I hope that it does not inhibit her racing.

To be fair, in that 8:35 3000m she kicked the last 2000 in 5:37 and beat Marta Dominguez (steeplechase champ) in the process. She was obviously capable of faster if the pace went out for the first kilo in barely under 3. Handing Dominguez one of her only defeats this season would also be telling.
