      Re: Where Is The Chatter?

I spent some time w/ Stacy Dragila here last night. She's rolling out some bigger poles (14-7s I think she said) and feels ready to do some good stuff on them. Her manager is very optimistic about her threatening the WR again soon.

        GH,
With another run on WR's in the women's vault, what do speculate it will take to medal in the games this summer? Or in the WC next week?

Oldvaulter and I have a bet on the wPV progression this year. I maintain that 5m (16'4.75) is doable. I bet gold goes for 16'2 and 15'8-15'10 to medal.

Maybe that's cuz you're the only one in town who knows it's happening. I was in Boston yesterday, picked up the Globe, and found not a single word about the meet. Ain't that great! National Championships beginning the next day and the biggest paper in town doesn't know it's there (or, even worse, knows but doesn't care).

For the rest of us, who are not in Beantown, one of the things that could give us good Internet chatter would be the start lists. But there are no start lists, or at least none on the web. Instead, there are lists of athletes and their statuses, some of which are mysterious. Like non-qualified athletes being listed as "Pending" or "Open." If they're not qualified, shouldn't they be "non-pending" or "closed"?

Long piece in Globe today; sorta positive.

I went to work today without my coat and my teeth are chattering. Does that count?

Has the Globe reported much or at all on Jen Toomey? She's a local. You'd think they might.

                    Re: Where Is The Chatter?

Here's another question for the stats people. Which event had the fastest progression for women? TJ, steeple, or PV? Which event is the closest %wise to the men's record?

I don't know the answer but I'd bet the stats would be similar?!

                      Re: Where Is The Chatter?

Nobody asked Masback about the on-going distance running crisis in America. US distance runners had one of their worst showings ever at the World Championships in Paris last year.

How bad do things have to get before something is done.

What is Masback supposed to do, go out and buy Kenyans like Quatar did?

This was supposed to be quite the barn burner for the last 1200.
