  • So if I told you one of the m100m finalists (not top 3)...

...is being rumored to have tested positive what would you say?

No names known or being discussed. Just the rumor here in Germany.

gh, if you'd prefer me to not discuss this on here I'll remove the topic. Not trying to break any rules.

That would raise some awkward "guilt by association" issues...unfortunately.

Is this a test which took place before the championships rather than after the final?

That's a question I can't answer but one that I'd be interested to know the answer to.

Not sure why anyone would be surprised. This is the 100m. I suppose some people do still think the WWF is real. Loyalty there seems to be directly related to tattoos and inversely related to teeth but athletics folk seem to be relatively intelligent and perceptive, so the naivete in situations such as this is even more puzzling.
The more shocking thing to me would be if one of the 100m finalists tested positive at Worlds and the IAAF actually released the result. The last thing they want is a king size Baby Ruth floating in the well-spiked punchbowl.

Guilt by association x 2; although the prior offender was 'cleared'.

From another thread via a Twitter feed:

                              2. Big news in Berlin - German radio report rumour that a finalist in men's 100m failed dope test before the champs. IAAF say no confirmation
