Wow. PSL is my new hero. She exemplifies grace, poise and class.

The article is on the front page but here are some quotes from the lovely and talented PSL:

"I was called to doping control right before my race," she explained with her characteristic smile. "We were running up and down stairwells and elevators. It was a fiasco right before my race.

"No more than eight minutes before the race I did the test and then ran around the stadium trying to find the fastest way down. I stood in the call room for five minutes then we walked out on the track [for the final]."

And:

Not one to miss seeing the silver lining, Lopes-Schliep laughed when she realized she had now completed her doping control for the night.

"Right away I got the testing out of the way and now I can leave," she joked. "Last year in Beijing it took a while to do that. I don't have to stick around too late.

Sometimes it is more about where you place but what you overcome to get there!

For many years Priscilla lived in the shadows of Felcien.

Obviously she has come into her own......


I still keep thinking about how awful that situation must have been.
I remember how anal I was about my warm up routine and most athletes are.
To be racing around trying to find a way to the track minutes before a World final.....it blows my mind. I wondr how many hurdles she got to go over!

And she NEVER brings it up in interviews. I have seen a couple where they ask her and some where they don't.


She has not once used it as an excuse.
One thing I don't get is why on earth did someone not undertsand that she had a final coming up.....
Many Germans speak perfect English-how much of a fuss did she and our team put up? Lots of details missing.


Still it can not possibly be protocol to pull one athlete out right before a final?

The results aren't instantanoues anyway so even if dirty she still would've ran.

IMO that put her at a disadvantage and may have hurt her performance.

Unfair unless everyone has to do it.

I have a new favorite among T&F athletes. I always love it when athletes come through with their best at the biggest moments. She seems to genuinely love the competition and respect her competitors.

Exactly.

I mean they had 2 and a half hours between rounds-that is nothing.

I know she would have had the whole two hours planned out-food, massage, warm up-everything meticuloulsy worked out.

WADA or whoever runs this stuff needs to do an investigation and make sure this never happens again.

A lesser person would have completely fallen apart.

Oh and what if they had delayed her even getting to the start and the race went without her..what then...a rerun?

Completely unfair, maybe criminal? To single out one athlete and in essence create a disadvantage. But it does show how mental tough and cool she was to overcome this injustice. She's has the temperment of a true champion.
