Wouldn't you love that. Worry about your own team.
Actually I wouldn't. I'm a big VCB fan, but its only a matter of time before some overzealous fans start calling her a Benedict Arnold (which she is anything but).
VCB is a class act, regardless of this current situation.
Jamaica was very conservative with their passing, but I can't blame them with the U.S. out of the race. With the U.S. in the race, they probably wouldn't have gone so conservative and probably run mid-41.
wow that's a horrible excuse of why you wouldn't want to win gold for your country and yourself.
Exactly! JAM should win this with very safe changes - at least take the medal :?
And the NBC said she was injured, yea right...extremely immature and un-respectable move by VCB.
It's a perfectly good excuse. JAM was going to win unless they dropped the baton with the US out. So, why risk it? Go with the team that has practiced together, better chance of no mistakes. I think it shows incredible team sprint on VCB's part to back out knowing the risks and not being self centered on getting a gold for herself.
Least impressive win by a team that won fairly easily in the 4x100m ever.
Kerron did not run a particularly strong anchor, and using SAF on the 2nd leg was a tactical error. Lucky for them because if the US team was in the race they could have lost by 0.50.
Ato is saying that Anderson tripped Muna, but I saw no contact. If she did trip her, then it means either Anderson wasn't on the outside of the lane or Muna wasn't on the inside of the lane.
This is what I thought happened in seeing it from the stadium...which is what I meant in my long post on the previous page about Alex coming into the 3rd leg "wild" rather than more controlled. She seemed as if she was trying to prove she was fast from the looks of it when it was unneeded to get through the rounds....a mistake she could have possibly prevented IMO but a comprehensible one with her trying to make a name for herself on the team being a rookie and all.
Being at the stadium, you're unable to see the replays obviously. It looked like Alex was "sprinting" as is her job on 2nd leg rather than "trying to prove herself" as you suggested. From the NBC replay, it looked as if she was in control when she reached Muna. The "ugly" handoff is not uncommon as most of you know and, in the end, Muna got the stick.
From the replay angle on the web, which showed Alex and Muna coming straight at the camera, it didn't look like there was any contact between Alex and Muna other than the handoff. It just appeared that Muna cramped or pulled, and did it awkwardly like Tyson Gay at the US trials last year.
It is entirely plausible that her wild leg movements were due to her cramping before she even got the stick.
So, what we probably saw was an injury to Muna, who was already hurt earlier this summer, and who probably shouldn't have been the US sprinter pulling double/triple duty.
For all of you who cry no substitutes, kindly consider the possibility that due to lack of leadership, greed and politics, some of these athletes are just doing too much. Weave in the new regime of ladies and the team will be better served.

That would make too much sense. But, the haters will run with the Diva for now. Whatever happened, don't really care...another Gold. Ho-hum.
