The Commonwealth Games is almost always a great competition. Look at the history of the event, and the Nations and Athletes involved. Look at all- time lists in a lot of the events, particularly on the track, and world-record progressions. May the Sun never set on the British Empire....
The Commonwealths are great and still going strong, ok there is always the talk before hand of how they are not as relevant nowadays, but as soon as the action gets started the talk soon stops and the action is enjoyed.
Looking at some of the finals Berlin has witnessed, some of the Commonwealths Games finals wont be all too different.
England, Wales, Scotland, Jamaica, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Tri + Tob, Bahamas, Nigeria, New Zealand, India and plenty more, could be a great Games next year if Delhi can get the organisation right....
are you depressed because they were not up to your standards or because they are over?????
Because they are over ! Actually, aside from the 2 sprint relays ( a big aside, true) I thought the USA did pretty darn well. Also a great meet from an overall performances standpoint. 3 wr's, and many other top all time list performances.
Duke, I got the same feeling brother..... atleast after Beijing we had less less than 12 months till Berlin!!!!
I suppose the Commonwealths Games could get interesting if the Jamaicans take it seriously :-)
The NCAA's are better than the Commonwealth Games!
Really ??? Maybe we should put up some serious prize money, and have a dual Meet between the NCAA and the Commonwealth. Not in early June of course - we don't want our Commonwealth athletes peaking before the season starts...
