Just thinking? If you have three athletes NOT wanting to run a curve, how do you field a team? If I'm right only the seond leg gets a straighttway.

Am I too logical, BUT: VCB was scheduled to go on the anchor and KS on the 2nd leg. If you look at the posts on the WC 4X100 relay mows of the Jamaicans argued that VCB was the fastest woman in the world on the fly (I claimed it was AF). Plus, everyone agrees that SAF's forte is her start and she is not the best on the fly. Yet the JAAA completely switches everything, when all they had to do was sit down SAF and leave everything status quo.
I guess I am too logical.

BOTH side are to be blamed for this comedy of errors (more like horrors).

From a purely technical point of view, VCB does have a point regarding practicing for receiving (only) the stick, and now being put in a position where you have to receive AND pass. Score one for VCB.

On the other hand, when the country calls, you put all other issues aside and do what has to be done for the good of the flag. NO athlete (including the omnipotent Usain Bolt) should be giving a coach any ultimatum regarding what they will or won't do. Score one for DQ

I just hope the people of Jamaica including the PM and the government can impress upon the JAAA and the respective camps how EMBARRASSING all this have been. The fact that the team has performed spectacularly amidst this display or amateurism and incompetence is an achievement in and of itself.

I shudder to think what this little country of under 3 million could produce if and when it's leaders decide to upgrade from amateurs to professionals.

            And the anchor, of course.
You merely say, 'if you want to be on the relay, we need you running the curve; so are you in or out?'
I don't want someone on my team who doesn't want to be there in the way that best helps the team.

She did when she skipped a needed visit to her therapist in order to attend the mandatory JA camp. Its well known that some of the other athletes blew this camp off. At what point does an athlete say enough is enough.

Not only that for the good of the country she sat out because she was UNFAMILIAR with running third leg, thats really simple fact everyone is forgetting.

the JAAA and Quarrie need to show some humility and class.

I agree Marlow that the technical reasons were enough for VCB to take caution and not run. But this seems to be deeper than that.

She was quoted as saying that after practicing and waiting she found that the leg she trained for "wasnt available." That's deeper than a technical reason if you ask me.

As jpaule said JAA completely switched the relay removing SAF from the logical first leg and pulling VCB from her long held anchor.

And you know the real reason?

SAF and Kerron WANTED to run 2nd and anchor because they feel they've earned it. All this injury curve mumbo jumbo is used to disguise the real reason...politics.

JAA didnt have the courage or consideration to say VCB attended the camp and she's been our anchor for many years and the spot is hers. They chose to cave to pressure and treat her like a 3rd string reserve.

Clearly her feelings are hurt because she didnt expect to get this treatment. She's STILL the queen of Jamaica t&f and in spite of the fact she didnt have the best WC she wanted that stick in her hand crossing the tape.

It didnt matter who ran which leg JAA was positioned to win comfortably after US was dqed. Why not run the leg you practice?

                    Politics.

VCB aint feeling SAF, Kerron, JAA and the fans who've dropped her. You could tell from her body language all year.

I'm predicting she returns with a vengeance.

If she's angry enough... she may be in a different uniform.

I actually believe revamping the JAAA ought to be the starting point for any serious house-cleaning effort regarding Jamaica's athletics program. Having said that, there has to be sanctions against those who miss the mandatory camp. I really wished Lamine Diack had stayed the hell out of what was clearly a local issue. His intervention emboldened the MVP folks who boycotted the camp. What incentive do they have to comply when the IAAF president appears to be on their side?

Didn't they do that when they stated that certain athletes weren't allowed to compete because they skipped the camp?

I am Jamaican and I didn't say that. I clearly stated that Kerron is the best in the world with a running start and I stand by that 100%.

                          Anyways... carry on

                            2 questions:

1 how do you know SAF and Kerron's injuries were not legit?
2 What different uniform might that be?

VCB and Kerron are seem to have a good relationship. But I could be wrong. I did notice that after the 100 meter final, it seemed the first person VCB congratulated was Lauryn.

I have not heard Steve Francis mentioned yet. But I wonder what his role i this was? After the training camp fiasco it would not surprise me if he orchestrated this piece of defiance too.
