Marion Jones ran 6.85 in Sevilla final en route to 10.70.
    Was it legal :?:
You mean: was the time legal? (it was, wind was ok)
    or was Marion Jones legal?
What was Flo Jos time at 60m en-route to her 100m WR?[/quote:1cktj7ae]

Dunno but I have many doubts on that record. Don't you :?: Well, I think it was not timed:

Marion thus both, the race (time) and the athlete

The problem isn't that they are splits. Many records have been set en route to other distances (including Privalova's current WR at 50 meters). It's just that 60 meter records are only recorded indoors.
    Merlene Ottey's 6.00 would be the 50 m not-en-route indoor WR then

If Bolt is out for the WR and the only thing that stops him is the deceleration space that shouldn't be a problem. There are severals places where they have 100m straights indoor where he can run the first 60m and then celebrate the last 40m!

But guess that will never happen. Indoor meets usually have a smaller budget too, which in this case probably is a problem. Bolts contract with Diamond League next year will be something special!

Obikwelu (about as tall as Bolt) gave up running indoors as he felt the deceleration put too much stress on his knees.

You mean make them straight? Are you sure you're not confusing Bolt with Michael Johnson?
I think he means the deceleration zone is not long enough.
I think he needs to get real. Bolt isn't moving so much faster than everyone else that the entire design of indoor tracks must be changed.

Besides, that's what high jump mats are for (lined up vertically against the wall)!

I thought we were talking of the 60 meters?

SAF would easily break the 50 and 60m WR
