  • When was the last time this happened?

At the WCs, the U.S. won the same number of medals in the 1500 and 5000 as it did in the 100 and 200.

When was the last time this happened at an Oly or WCs?

      No arguing with that!

Seriously, though does anyone know? I haven't had time to look it up myself.

I skinmed the TFN archives for the World Champs, and I don't think it happened for the WC's, the US sprints are just way too stacked year after year, and the medalists for the 1500/5000 are just the opposite. It almost happened in 2007, when Lagat won two medals (1500/5000), and Gay/Spearmon got 3 medals for the 100/200. Tegenkamp was a close fourth in the 5000.
