Surely someone will but maybe not from Jamaica.

With as much talent as resides there per capita, its only a matter of time before those camps become overcrowded and the overflow gravitates elsewhere.
I am hoping Bert Cameron will start his own thing and get some guys working towards the 400. You have some good high school coaches, but right now their hands are full being coaches and father figure to some of the youngsters. My fear is that every so called expert with $ sign in their eyes my jump to open their own camp and they may no be qualified to do so. We still need the US college system.

If Maurice Wilson ever decides to turn his attention to Pro athletes the current crop of women representing Jamaica may seem small in comparison. He has been able to achieve wonders at Holmwood. He seems comfortable in his role there for now.

The Reggae Boyz made a nice run into the 1998 World Cup, but since then the "football" program in Jamaica has stunk. I think Jamaica would be better served if they spend most of it's money on the Track program. You can't buy the type of exposure Jamaica has gotten as a result of the success of their athletes in Beijing and Berlin. My gut tells me that Jamaica will start pumping a larger portion of it's slim resources into track and couple that with the world-wide success of their athletes you will start seeing more male athletes turn away from football and focus primarly on track.

The scary thing is that we may not have seen the best from the tiny island.

I can see track starting to garner more and more money sure... but quick question... are you currently in Jamaica? Or went to high school there at least? Football in Jamaica is not dependent on the success of the national program. Not at all. I don't see track usurping Football as king of sports in Jamaica any time soon... if ever.

Does the JAA have permanent team coaches or do they assign high profile coaches to manage the team while preparing for international events?

Just wondering why Franno isn't a part of the JAA or ever made a team coach. He could help correct the deficiencies that deters him from joining forces during wc/oly years.

                Georges

You're right about the success of the Reggae Boyz having little to do with national success (use that term lightly). Most of the national players play abroad. But Jamaica have sunk a generous mount of money into promoting the Reggae Boyz. That could be over.

I would comment on the US athletes but usually when we have these types of injuries we tend to not do as well for whatever reason.

If you know any exceptions feel free to post them. As I'd hate to not give them their just due.
Do you still need any "exceptions"?

(the press here say Jeter has had "2 injury-hit years", is this true?!)

                  • Melaine Walker ran for Bev Kearney at UT, and she ran 53. high in her final race. Unfortunately she was disqualified for improper usage of her trail leg. So coming out of college we could say she just need some polishing, inorder to get the results she has been getting now.
Guru have you ever gone close up to look at her teeth, prior to her placing braces to her teeth? I guess you have not. Now she has the money and time, why can't she spend it the way she wants to?

I am just explaining to the people who come on this forum to get information, and see the low blows given by three disgruntled posters.

Undoubtedly the best sprint coach in the world. He takes average athletes and turn them into world beaters. It's hard to find any other coach on the planet with such success.
Inform me people of any other coach to do so much with lesser talented athletes as Franno does.

Charlie Francis in Canada was well-revered for many years...
Charlie Francis is still revered by many track sprinting "purists." Purists as in those who look at the methodology, and results only. There were many other "users" during Ben Johnson's era, so it was more than the "extra" stuff that made him great. It was the talent, and the TRAINING.
