  • The road to the jackpot

After the reading the IAAF article, I thought it would be interesting to list all the times and marks of the three winners, some other stats and look back at their road to the jackpot:

Damn Richards margins are amazing ..

Bekeles margins are dreadful but in a way show how great he is... he is so damn good he can just sit and wait and wait and wait knowing that he can burn anyone on the last lap.

Agreed, although I don't think Bekele is quite as dominant anymore compared to when he set the WRs in the 5000 in 10000. I always had the feeling that no matter what happened and how long he waited, he would come out victorious. This year, he struggled a little at the beginning for the season (for his standards that is) and even yesterday he didn't get separation from others until the homestretch.

winning margins are a bit apples & orangish; field eventers have no active component, and the difference between lane racers and non-lane people is immense. You can "pick" your winning margin when running side-by-side.

Agreed, it was also meant to be more of a comparison within each event.
